Prayer for Israel and Palestine from Bishop Logue

“God of peace, we pray for the people of Israel and Palestine in this time of war.

For all who are fearful for the safety of their loved ones and themselves, we pray that the assurance of unfailing love, even in the midst of danger, settles upon them. Shelter them from despair and protect them from harm.

We remember before you the Anglican Archbishop of Jerusalem and the Middle East, the Most Reverend Hosam Elias Naoum, and the people of his churches, hospitals, and other ministries.

For all who have died, we pray they find rest.

For all who grieve, we pray they find comfort.

For all who are wounded, we pray they find healing.

For leaders on all sides, we pray for the will to lay down arms and for the conviction to embrace a path of reconciliation and peace that preserves the rights and dignity of all of your children.

God of justice, we pray with hopeful hearts that your beloved children of the Holy Land.

We ask all this in the name of your Son, Jesus. Amen.”

Experience the Taizé Eucharist from March 20th

Have you ever attended a worship service in Christ Church with the only illumination being the late afternoon sun coming through the windows and the lights of many candles? Those who attended the Holy Eucharist service featuring Taizé music at 6 p.m. on Wednesday, March 20th, certainly had that experience. If you were not there, or if you were and want to experience it again, a photograph album from the service is available online here. In addition, video recordings of the service are available on Facebook here and on YouTube here.

Grace Cafe News

With Spring Break over and our interns recharged they continue their work to demonstrate the grace of God through food, fellowship, and ministry by serving well-over 1,500 visitors since the beginning of the semester.

This week we would like to extend our deepest gratitude to the following:

  • To Sr and Sra Viveros for showcasing true Mexican cuisine by preparing the entire meal for the Café’s Authentic Mexican Dinner. They cooked tostadas de tinga, chilaquiles al horno, pambazos, and ensalada de nopales – for 80 students.
  • To VSU’s Latin American Student Association (LASA) and Krystle Black for providing a special dish as well.
  • To Patricia Tyson for providing delicious homemade oatmeal cookies.
  • To Happy Ingeman for donating cookie bars.
  • To one of Grace Café’s interns Cat Bowen for making Rice Krispie treats.

We appreciate you all!

The Café could still use more donations of ramen noodles – college kids love this.

Our interns continue to help out parishioners where they can, while still loaning their assistance to the Church’s Garden Guild – where work has commenced to clear out the Labyrinth behind the Rectory – which has seen much progress. Most recently, our interns aided with Lunch Brunch and continue to work on various cleaning and organizing projects for Fr. Hal. We would also like to commend Cassidy, Tobey and Cat who have been diligently assisting in the nursery on Sundays and other days when needed.

We have made 7 purchases from Second Harvest so far this semester. This is where we get most of the coffee, snacks, and canned foods that we serve at the cafe. Our most recent purchase was for 315 lbs of food which totaled $55.

Currently the Café has a total of 9 wonderful interns and as of recently Jeri-Lyn has received applications for 9 other promising interns with interviews, being conducted by the college ministry team, still ongoing – though with only 3 spots to fill, we pray that God highlights the applicants that would be the best fit to join our dynamic team.

A Prayer for Ukraine

God of peace and justice, we pray for the people of Ukraine today. We pray for peace and the laying down of weapons. We pray for all those who fear for tomorrow, that your Spirit of comfort would draw near to them. We pray for those with power over war or peace for wisdom, discernment, and compassion to guide their decisions. Above all, we pray for all your precious children, at risk and in fear, that you would hold and protect them. We pray in the name of Jesus, the Prince of Peace.

Amen.
