St. Pete Youth Farm Ambassadors and Collaboration Manager leading in stretching at September's community workday
Happy October! We had so much going on this past month and so much more happening. We’d first like to thank everyone who came out to our September Community Workday! Shout out Ryan Titus who DJ’d for us. Thank you to Julie Rocco, Professor Trey Conner, Professor Will Schanbacher, Caryn Nesmith, Winnie Mulamba, School Board Member Caprice Edmond, and Roger Clendening for coming out.
We’re also unveiling our PSTA bus wrap mural as part of the SHINE St. Petersburg Mural Festival this Saturday, October 23rd at The Factory St. Pete (2622 Fairfield Ave S). The event will be from 3pm - 10pm.

If you’re not able to make it, we'll be doing another unveiling at our Community Workday (more info below). Come out Saturday morning to check it. This will truly be a celebration of art, culture and community!
This month we were paid a visit from the founder of the National Women in Agriculture Association, Dr. Tammy Steele. We were grateful to have been able to make this connection thanks to Amanda Edwards, Tampa Chairperson of the NWIAA. The NWIAA is the largest agriculture organization for women in the world, and it was amazing to learn more about the work the organization does to provide equitable opportunities for women and youth in agriculture.

Make sure to follow us on Facebook or Instagram to keep up with all that's happening at the farm.

More exciting news... We have SO many events happening this month!

This Friday, October 22nd, join us at the 4th Annual Grow Gardens Conference by the Coalition of Community Gardens Tampa Bay. Our Collaboration Manager, Carla Bristol, is a panelist and their keynote speaker is FL Commissioner of Agriculture Nikki Fried. (This event is both in person in Plant City and virtual.)
Farm Updates!
  • We’ve been fortunate to have made a new partner in Positive Impact Worldwide Church, who is now providing us with upwards of 100 gallons of food per week (300+ gallons composted to date) and gracious enough to drop it off for us. They’ve been running a FREE Grocery Giveaway Event at Tangerine Plaza every Saturday morning from 10am to 12pm for the past 18+ months! It’s a drive up event and all are welcome.
  • Started process of digging holes for posts for the greenhouse, thanks to the Downtown Rotary Club!
Our Big October Event This Month!
We'll be having our next community workday Saturday, October 30th!
This event has transformed into a BIG celebration of art and culture. Come out to celebrate the unveiling of our St. Pete Youth Farm PSTA bus wrap. In collaboration with artist Jabari Reed aka iBOMS (read more about him in the article below) and our Youth Ambassadors. This has been in the works for awhile so we are gathering our former Ambassadors for a reunion to commemorate them and their work.
If you haven't had a chance to make it out to the farm this is a great opportunity to do so. Wear a dashiki for National Dashiki day, bring a water bottle, hat, and gloves if you have any (we have extras). We'll have music, art and so much more! All are welcome.
Farm Fridays this Fall
Join us for one of our Farm Fridays! Every 1st and 3rd Friday of the month from 7:30-9:30am we host a volunteer day at the farm. This allows for weekday involvement for our interested volunteers.

Next opportunity is November 5th!
