I will rather boast most gladly of my weaknesses,

in order that the power of Christ may dwell with me.

Therefore, I am content with weaknesses, insults,

hardships, persecutions, and constraints,

for the sake of Christ;

for when I am weak, then I am strong.

 ~2 Corinthians 12

From Our Pastor

Dear Parishioners and Friends,

On Sunday, July 14th, the feast day of Saint Kateri Tekakwitha, we will host a Eucharistic Procession after the 11am Mass.

This procession will be led by the choir, altar servers, Knights of Columbus, and parishioners around the perimeter of the Christ the King Campus (rain or shine) then end back in church and conclude with prayers of Benediction.

We will have a reception in our Parish Center afterwards with lots of food to celebrate the 15 years of the founding of Saint Kateri Tekakwitha Parish.

Bring the family!

May God bless you!

Dear Parishioners,

Saint Kateri Parish, in conjunction with the Diocese of Rochester, must complete a Parish-wide census over the course of the summer.

At this point, we are gathering up-to-date contact information for all registered and unregistered Catholics of our Parish.

If you have recently moved, changed your e-mail address or changed your phone number, please notify the Parish Office as soon as possible.

You may also contact the Parish Office if you would like to receive offertory envelopes or would like to switch from offertory envelopes to Automatic Contributions (ACH).

SAINT KATERI TEKAKWITHA

On July 14th, we celebrate the feast of the "Lily of the Mohawks." St. Kateri Tekakwitha is the first Native American woman to be canonized. Orphaned by a smallpox outbreak, Kateri survived with severe scarring and impaired eyesight.

Despite tragedy, she was a devout girl at a young age, often building crosses from sticks in the woods. When she was 18, she began secret instruction in the Catholic faith with French missionaries. Her commitment to Christianity and vow of virginity was misunderstood and ridiculed by her fellow villagers. She escaped to a nearby mission, where she attended daily Mass, taught the children, and cared for the sick and the elderly.

Sometimes the greatest misunderstandings can come from those closest to us. Like St. Kateri, God invites us to be faithful to our commitments of faith and to always respond in love.

A Fun Activity to Celebrate the Feast of

Saint Kateri Tekakwitha

Best Ever Cornbread

1/2 cup butter or margarine, softened

1/4 cup granulated sugar

2 large eggs

1 cup milk

1 cup all-purpose flour

1 cup yellow cornmeal

1 tablespoon baking powder

1/2 teaspoon salt

Preheat oven to 375°F. Grease an 8-inch square baking pan; set aside.

Combine butter with sugar and eggs in a large mixing bowl. Blend in milk, flour, cornmeal, baking powder, and salt until the batter is just blended (a few lumps are ok).

Pour batter into prepared pan and bake for about 25 minutes or until surface springs back lightly when touched and a toothpick stuck into the center comes out clean.

Remove from oven and place pan onto a wire rack; serve hot or warm. Makes 8 servings.
