Federation Report - May 14, 2021
Legislative Update

Missouri's 2021 Legislative Session wraps up today, May 14th! Thank you to all who have contacted their legislators, shared our action alerts, and invited friends to join us! Together, we are the voice for Missouri outdoors and our wildlife management agencies and natural resources would not be the great level that they are without the help of each and every one of you. Thank you from all of us at the Conservation Federation of Missouri.

Look for information coming soon about the Missouri Prescribed Burn Act.
LAST CHANCE to apply for the
Conservation Leadership Corps!

Learn more about CLC at www.confedmo.org/clc or contact Colton Zirkle, Education and Communications Coordinator, at czirkle@confedmo.org.

All current members of the Conservation Federation of Missouri have received a packet containing the 2021 notecard series: Missouri Outdoors. These notecards offer a perfect way to share a little piece of Missouri with your family and friends.

This series of exclusive CFM notecards feature Missouri outdoor photographs by the extremely talented photographer Kent Campbell. Sending someone special in your life one of Kent’s beautiful photos on our notecards is a great way to brighten their day, while also helping spread the message of the Conservation Federation of Missouri.
Court Judgment Rules in Favor of MDC Land Purchase

A recent judgment in the Circuit Court of Cole County ruled in favor of MDC and supports their constitutional authority to spend their own money. The constitutional division exists between the Missouri General Assembly and the Missouri Conservation Commission. The decision stated the Commissioner of Administration must certify the St. Clair land purchase as requested by the Conservation Commission. This land purchase would expand the Linscomb Wildlife Conservation Area. The ruling has since been appealed and will now go to the Missouri Supreme Court. You can read the entire judgment here.

Conservation Leadership Corps:
Prairie Fork Workday

Conservation Leadership Corps students recently gathered together to help ready the Prairie Fork Conservation Area for summer school groups! CLC has a long-standing partnership with Prairie Fork thanks to Pat Jones and Amber Edwards. Amber serves on CFM's Youth Conservation Action committee as well as the vice-chair of the Education and Outdoor Recreation RAC.

Thank you to our students and all of our volunteers for making the Conservation Leadership Corps our premier youth program!
Applications for Bear and Elk Seasons are Open

The May issue of the CFM Magazine hits mailboxes next week.

Springtime in Missouri is marked by morels, crappie, and gobbling turkeys. As always, we encourage you to get outside and enjoy Missouri's outdoors. Take a friend or family member with you and share what you love! If you have a friend that might enjoy the magazine, please share it with them and encourage them to join CFM to receive their own magazines at home.

Hunting and fishing are engrained in American culture. However, the true value of outdoor sports is far greater than retail sales, annual licenses and permits, or the number of participants. It's about the experience. Folklore is a powerful way to stabilize cultural practices and traditions. Conversations could begin at home, the workplace, or in the classroom, so start one today!

The book is available online in the CFM Store!
If you witness or suspect a wildlife violation, report it to your local conservation agent or call the toll-free number 1-800-392-1111. You may remain anonymous and you may ask to be considered for a reward if you wish.
