A Special Update from the Co-Presidents
Embracing Local Charities
Embracing Gathering Industries starts now!
The Charity Committee of the CPWC is thrilled to announce the annual charity gala event will take place Saturday, April 28
th
7:00 p.m. under the stars at 100 Atlanta Country Club Drive. The gala will feature a private concert by Yacht Rock Schooner and food catered by celebrity cheftainer, Alex Reethof. The charity gala will benefit Gathering Industries. The charity committee is led this year by the smooth team of Carie Buchanan, Tina Engberg, and Jennifer Risey. The dress code is "Farrah Fabulous", and if you still
have your Famolares, wear 'em. Entry is limited, so plan to get your tickets early.
We will have a surprise at the event for those who purchase their tickets in February.
Yacht Rock Schooner is all about 72 degrees, smooth jams from the sunny beaches of 1978-1984,when pop music used slash cords and craft to create wrinkle free sing along songs that won't spill your drink. Songs by Michael McDonald, Kenny Loggins, The Doobie Brothers, Hall & Oates, Lionel Richie, The Bee Gees, Steely
Dan, Jackson Browne and more. Expect to
dance like it's 1984.
This fabulous event is for the benefit of Gathering Industries, a 501(c)3 nonprofit organization
. Up to $100 of the $200 paid for this event may be tax-deductible as a charitable contribution. Please check with your tax advisor. Visit
www.chattahoocheeplantationwomensclub.org
for tickets. More information will be provided at our February program and tickets will be available for purchase!
And we Embrace two additional local charities through donations during February
We would also like to gather donations at the February programs meeting to support the Kids 2 Leaders and Great Prospects charities. Lisa Krueger (4115 River Cliff Chase), Janet Thomas (581 Glen Eagles Circle) and Julie Lischer (540 Willow Knoll) are delighted to continue to receive donations throughout February. See details below on what they need.
Great Prospects supports individuals with disabilities from high school age through a
dult
hood. They provide a therapeutic day program, continuing education programs, as well as monthly social activities! They worked two years and recently were able to obtain a bus! They would grea
tly appreciate gas cards of any amount!
Kids 2 Leaders supports children 8-18 who have an incarcerated parent. The largest yearly event is Camp Hope and this year the they are planning for a second distinct camp in support of more children. Although any items a child would like or need are gratefully accepted in new or gently used condition, some top needs we are collecting include:
- Bedding - pillows, pillow cases, single sheet sets, blankets
- Activity essentials - longer length (basketball) shorts, bathing suits, towels
- Small Toiletries
Please contact
Janet
or
Lisa
if you have any questions.
