30-Day Lifestyle Intervention Delivers a Large Impact on Overall Health

Ethos 30-day detox research study by Mark Liotta, MD, Rich Wolferz, MD, and our very own Keith Grega has been selected to be presented at the upcoming American College of Lifestyle Medicine (ACLM) conference. ACLM is the premier medical professional society providing quality education and certification to those dedicated to clinical and worksite practice of lifestyle medicine as the foundation of a transformed and sustainable health care system. The Lifestyle Medicine Conference, LM 2022 this year, is the nation's premier conference delivering expert continuing education with a focus on lifestyle medicine.

This is extremely exciting news for us as we now get to showcase our 30-Day Detox Program to national and international audiences!

Rich Wolferz, MD, Mark Liotta, MD, and Keith Grega, all past and current star participants of Ethos Farm Project's Next Generation Physician Training Program, analyzed data from individuals who underwent the 30-Day Detox and discovered AMAZING results! They compared the patients’ blood pressure, weight, and bloodwork before and after the detox. On average, participants’ blood pressure values dropped by over 10 points, their weight decreased by 13.5 pounds, and their inflammatory markers greatly improved. Also, more than 75% of the patients were able to stop their blood pressure and cholesterol medications!

We look forward to seeing these three superstars present their research this year at the American College of Lifestyle Medicine Conference in November 2022.  The conference theme this year is completely aligned with Ethos values and is titled "Redesigning Healthcare Better" and we are excited for future patient success stories on the 30-Day Detox! Here's a little bit about them:

Mark Liotta, MD is currently completing his internal medicine residency at Thomas Jefferson University Hospital. Afterwards, he plans on pursuing a career in cardiology with a focus on preventative medicine. Read more about Mark and his illustrious achievements here.

Rich Wolferz, MD has led the adoption of the Lifestyle Medicine Residency Curriculum at the University of Utah for the Family Medicine Residency.

This curriculum, designed by the ACLM, provides medical residents more in depth training in lifestyle medicine. Read more about Rich here.

Keith recently graduated from Bucknell University, with a B.S. in Biomedical Engineering.

Read more about Keith's journey to lifestyle medicine, which began early with his mom Dr Meagan Grega, and continued towards discovering connections between food and medicine, here.

Collaboration with Karina Hines' of Botanical Kitchen

At the start of the growing season this year we partnered with Chef Karina Hines of Botanical Kitchen and each week she gives us a recipe that ties in perfectly with what you purchase at the Doctor's Farm Market on Fridays and Saturdays, 9 am - 3 pm.

The Instant Pot Tuscan Lentils Potatoes & Spinach recipe she provided was extremely popular with everyone and is linked here again, in case you missed it the first time!

Ethos Farm Project Events This Summer

Firefly Dinner - Fundraiser for Ethos Farm Project

On a moonlit night in early July Chef Ramses Bravo served several generous donors and supporters of Ethos a three-course meal. The meal was served at the stone barn and the evening was capped by a brilliant musical performance by Dr Weiss on piano and NY Philharmonic violinist Krzysztof Kuznik on violin.

The fireflies all rose on cue and it was an extremely successful fundraiser for Ethos.

Our generous donors and their kindness sustains the Ethos Farm Project. Thanks to their generosity we are poised to be equipped with a new greenhouse, a new cool bot and a new field mower which will allow Ethos to continue to thrive and effectively and efficiently serve our community.

Natural Arts Series, May through September

This summer some of us have been gathering to connect with nature and with one another as we crafted brooms, learned how to use natural plant dyes extracted from plants grown at Ethos and will soon be weaving baskets using pine bark and twine under the expert guidance of Poliana Danila of Atelier Poliana.

In this dynamic Natural Art Series, Poliana has been introducing us to the ancient crafts of weaving, basketry, natural plant dyeing and broom making.  We hope to continue to bring these educational and meditative activities to Ethos on an ongoing basis.

Sound Healing Meditation with Scarlet Gorton

Scarlet and John Gorton led an amazing outdoor sound healing session with some of us on August 19th. We felt ensconced and embraced by the sounds of nature seamlessly intermingled with the peaceful vibrations from gongs, singing bowls, chimes, and ocean drums.  We realized, to our amazement how sound is heard not only with our ears but with every cell of our bodies.  We hope Scarlet will be back at the farm again soon to offer this much needed healing!

Ethos Farm Project Appreciates Your Continued Support

Ethos Farm Project (EFP) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, distinct from Ethos Primary Care. The initiatives that are central to EFP’s mission are preserving, regenerating, and protecting the land for future generations.

Not only are we striving to grow nourishment and “medicine” from the ground up but also working to rejuvenate the land formerly depleted by conventional and GMO farming, protecting the birds and other species that reside here, planting new groves of native trees, and protecting the headwaters of the Raritan River that flow through this valley.

The food that you look forward to buying at the farmstand each spring and summer is grown on merely 8 to 10 acres that are certified organic at this time, the rest is being regenerated, with 100+ acres of forest in line for care as well.

Leading scientists who are our partners in this effort to rejuvenate the land see Ethos as a living regenerative laboratory.
