2021 Spring Edition
ETHOS FARM PROJECT NEWS

Ethos Farm Project is a pioneering model for a farm-based healthcare system. Its mission is unique in that it seeks to address the deeply interconnected problems of agriculture and healthcare; it does so by taking on climate change, cultivating a new generation of farmers and physicians, healing patients with chronic disease, and building community.
Great news! We’re excited to share that we’re in the process of incorporating Ethos Farm Project as a nonprofit organization. A core component of Ethos Farm Project is its educational mission: we train future lifestyle medicine physicians, mentor NextGeneration regenerative organic farmers, and host the public for informative seminars about chronic disease.

None of this would be possible if it weren’t for Dr. Weiss’s unwavering dedication to this mission. The changes we’re looking to advance, however, are bold and paradigm-shifting, so we need your help: please consider making a donation to our Ethos Pioneering Campaign to strengthen Ethos Farm and transform healthcare. Rodale And Ethos, A World In Harmony
Human health and agriculture are deeply intertwined; this philosophy is the beating heart of Ethos Farm Project. Together with other renowned experts, Dr. Weiss co-authored Rodale Institute’s Power of the Plate white paper, which makes the case for regenerative organic agriculture in improving human health.

ETHOS PRIMARY CARE UPDATE
Lifestyle Coaching At Ethos

Mindfulness-based stress reduction (MBSR), a technique for cultivating mindfulness, is an important pillar of lifestyle medicine; the North American Journal of Medical Sciences calls it a “non-pharmacological approach for chronic illnesses.”

Ethos Primary Care has its very own MBSR expert in-house: Asha Gala. Asha has personally created an MBSR program at Ethos designed to help patients achieve optimal health.

Nathanael's Journey
Nathanael Smith, Nurse Practitioner, has joined the Ethos Primary Care team as a Medical Provider and brings an advanced practice nursing perspective with him. Nathanael became a board-certified Family Nurse Practitioner by the American Association of Nurse Practitioners to search for the root cause of chronic disease. Covid-19 Reminders
Thankfully, Covid-19 vaccines are now being widely distributed. However, it’s important to remember that chronic disease puts one at significantly elevated risk for severe illness. Remember that lifestyle measures can relieve the burden of chronic disease and provide protection against infectious diseases like Covid-19. Read Dr. Ron Weiss’s feature in Today about the importance of lifestyle change for illness prevention.

Recipe
Do some “spring cleaning” of your health by making sure to eat your greens! Try this Peanut Orange sauce, a favorite of Ethos Farm Manager Nora Pugliese. The fat boosts nutrient absorption, while the orange (vitamin C) facilitates iron absorption. Enjoy!
