ETHOS FARM PROJECT NEWS
Big Plans for the Upcoming Season!
Hints of Spring are here with early morning birdsong, swelling red maple buds and the first sounds of spring peepers. We aren’t fooled by the warm reprieve we had a couple of weeks ago though: we are back to nights well below freezing, which means lots of row cover to protect our young plants from the freeze.

The days are growing longer, Nick and Jessi are back on the farm and are getting into the groove quicker this year, as last season was both of their first seasons on the farm.
Over the past month amidst repairs, organizing, and spring cleaning, they have worked to bring us some exciting news: they have been planting in our tunnels and starting many, many, many seeds in our greenhouse; 27,484 seeds to be exact, including over 12,000 onions, 300 tomatoes and thousands of nutrient-dense greens! We are hopeful that Ethos Farm Market will be opening a week earlier this year! Our plan is to open on Saturdays from 9am-1pm starting April 16th. We will continue with these hours the first few weeks. As always, our initial offering will be light, so come early! Stay tuned for our weekly newsletter which will list all items that will be available at the market one day in advance.
As the weeks progress we will increase the hours and open on Fridays also.
We hope you’re as excited about Spring as we are here on the farm. We can’t wait to see your smiling faces at our market!

Spring/Summer Recipe Collaboration
We are excited to announce a recipe collaboration with Chef Karina Hines of Botanical Kitchen. Chef Karina’s recipes aim to empower people in their healing journeys to improve their health with sensible, simple, and affordable ingredients and thoughtfully constructed recipes that support an “Eat to Thrive” vision and mission.
|
|
Through her Patch-to-Plate initiative Chef Karina supports farmers and helps communities expertly cook locally grown food. Our goals align because like us at Ethos she believes that nutrition begins in the soil. Each week that the farmstand is open you will be able to get one of her recipes that are coordinated with the market produce of the week. Click here for Karina's Grated Beet & Spring Green Salad recipe.
We know you will be as excited about this partnership as we are! And, if you have not yet purchased your Discount Cards for fresh produce, now is the time!

Ethos Farm Project Needs Your Assistance
Ethos Farm Project (EFP) is a 501(c)(3) non-profit organization, distinct from Ethos Primary Care. The initiatives that are central to EFP’s mission are preserving, regenerating, and protecting the land for future generations.
Not only are we striving to grow nourishment and “medicine” from the ground up but also working to rejuvenate the land formerly depleted by conventional and GMO farming, protecting the birds and other species that reside here, planting new groves of native trees, and protecting the headwaters of the Raritan River that flow through this valley.
The food that you look forward to buying at the farmstand each spring and summer is grown on merely 8 to 10 acres that are certified organic at this time, the rest is being regenerated, with 100+ acres of forest in line for care as well.
Leading scientists who are our partners in this effort to rejuvenate the land see Ethos as a living regenerative laboratory.
Click the link below to learn how you can support our mission by donating resources, time, or both.

Meet the Denmans
Maggie and Leigh Denman met Dr. Weiss at the Ethos Farmstand. They were already committed supporters of local farms but little did they know that the one turn into the gorgeous Ethos driveway, with the intention of supporting a local farm, would change their health trajectory in such a dramatic way.
Maggie and Leigh Denman have just finished a 30-day detox which enabled them to shed a combined weight of 75 lbs and regain control of their health. Maggie, a former professional from the restaurant and hospitality industry had seen how so many restaurants were places where “food came to die” when she noticed that one small side of sauce could contain upwards of 2500 mg of salt!
Leigh, a former college athlete and football player, with a 6’6” frame had felt helpless with the steady weight gain on the standard American diet (S.A.D) and even before becoming a patient of Dr Weiss knew that a better alternative was out there. His research into the works of Dr. T. Colin Campbell and Dr. Caldwell B. Esselstyn had held out this promise. His instincts proved to be correct as he regained his health in the care of Dr. Weiss.
Maggie said that her approach to health and nutrition forever changed from eating items from the S.A.D menu and saying, “I work hard, I deserve it”, to “I don’t deserve to mistreat myself by eating this way.”
Maggie and Leigh said they broke many habits and completely shifted their thought train. Now the tastes of clementines and mangoes blow their mind!
You can see what the Denmans and so many others are saying about regaining their health and well-being in the care of Dr. Weiss at Ethos Primary Care in the full videos here.

Ethos Primary Care Front Desk & Scribe Staff
We wanted to add a word of appreciation for the Ethos Primary Care Front Desk and Scribe staff. These positions are often staffed by rising doctors and healers of the future. These team members have sought mentors who believe that future doctors need better nutrition training and that this will make them better equipped to use lifestyle medicine to address chronic diseases. Mindfulness-Based Stress Reduction
Environmental stressors play an important role in governing relationships with others as well as the internal relationship with one’s self. These stressors can range from watching the nightly news to forcing yourself to eat kale when you really want cake, to being provoked by an obnoxious colleague at work.
MBSR makes us aware of our emotions in real time. By being aware, or mindful of emotions, we are afforded the opportunity to change our responses to stressors so they are no longer reflexive, no longer reactive.
The Fall dates for this very popular course led by Lifestyle Clinical Director, Asha Gala, are listed here. See what people are saying about the MBSR course here.
