Monitoring the Effect of the Plastic Bag Tax
During the 2022 MLK Day cleanup on January 17, 102 EcoAction volunteers picked up 219 plastic bags and plastic bag pieces in Barcroft Park. We administered the plastic bag tally in order to collect baseline data after the recent implementation of Arlington County’s five-cent plastic bag tax. Under EcoAction Arlington’s leadership, volunteers will continue to monitor the number of plastic bags collected during future cleanup events to see if there is a decrease.
