April/May 2018
Custom cabinetry designed and manufactured to meet all your needs.
We recently celebrated Earth Day on April 22. The Fehrenbacher Family has always had a deep respect and passion for helping preserve the Earth’s resources. In fact, since 1987, the Fehrenbacher Family has planted over 100,000 trees which include a wide variety of different species. Many of these species will have no timber value, but are planted for the wildlife or are used to stabilize ground along rivers and streams.

We continue to plant more trees each year, in hopes of creating a better place for future generations to share and enjoy. Read on for the other ways that we celebrate earth day, EVERY day of the year here at Fehrenbacher Cabinets.
THE GREEN PROCESS
From start to finish, our cabinets and procedures maintain a green process!
OUR MATERIALS
All Fehrenbacher Cabinets are created from solid lumbers and veneer core plywood. No particle board is used in  our   manufacturing of custom cabinets.  Particle Board  is notorious for being produced with Formaldehyde and numerous other dangerous chemicals that act as a bonding agent amongst the wood fibers. All plywood used in Fehrenbacher Cabinets is  Columbia-Pure Bond  Plywood, which is 100% Formaldehyde Free.
OUR MACHINERY
All stationary machinery in the production facility is controlled by a 99% efficient dust collection system, keeping the air virtually free from airborne dust. All wood dust and shavings are collected into a central storage unit. The wood shavings are then used by a local landscaping company, where they are used in their nurseries to help preserve ground moisture around their plants.
OUR FINISHES
Fehrenbacher Cabinets finishes all of its wood products in house. All finishes are ran through fluid heaters before being sprayed, reducing the need for chemical thinners to change the viscosity of the materials. All of our finishes emit far less HAPS (Hazardous Air Pollutants) than permitted by state regulations. All finishing takes place in front of vented booths, which forces any overspray into a series of micro filters before being exhausted out of the building.
OUR DELIVERY
Over 95% of all jobs produced by Fehrenbacher Cabinets are installed within a 80 mile radius of where they where produced. This is obviously much better on the environment than large semi-trucks delivering loads of cabinets to distributors half way across the country. All Fehrenbacher Cabinets are shipped, wrapped and padded with reusable furniture blankets, eliminating the need for several tons of cardboard each year to box each individual unit.
QUARTZ - HIGH ON THE ECO SCALE
Not only is quartz one of the most popular surfaces to put in your home right now, it is also on the high end of the Eco Scale that measures for safety, sustainability, carbon footprint, life cycle, etc! Quartz has been made popular due to its highly scratch resistant, heat and moisture resistant, and low maintenance qualities; and I haven't even mentioned it's best quality yet....how gorgeous it is!

Quartz is made up of 93-95% natural quartz along with an epoxy resin binder.

Do you know what the NSF stands for? NSF stands for National Sanitation Foundation. "When it comes to food safety and sanitation, the National Sanitation Foundation is considered one of the global leaders. Their worldwide laboratories act as a third-party certifier that tests, inspects, registers, and validates appliances, food equipment, cosmetics, drinking water filters, plumbing, and many other personal care products. The NSF label means a product meets their criteria for safety."

Do you know what a GREENGUARD certification is? "Simply put, GREENGUARD Certification ensures that a product has met some of the world's most rigorous and comprehensive standards for low emissions of volatile organic compounds (VOCs) into indoor air."

Here at FCI, we are proud to offer quartz that is both NSF and GREENGUARD certified!
The ENERGY STAR label was established to:

Reduce greenhouse gas emissions and other pollutants caused by the inefficient use of energy; and

Make it easy for consumers to identify and purchase energy-efficient products that offer savings on energy bills without sacrificing performance, features, and comfort
Still washing dishes by hand? You are wasting more than just your time and money, but also water and energy!
IS YOUR DISHWASHER SAVING YOU?
We all know that purchasing 'Energy Star' appliances helps your pocket book, but it does go farther than that. Have you ever wondered what actually qualifies an appliance to be labeled as an 'Energy Star' product? Well...you are about to find out!

"ENERGY STAR is the trusted, government-backed symbol for energy efficiency helping us all save money and protect the environment through energy-efficient products and practices."

Right now, we are going to focus on dishwashers.

I have three young children, and let me tell you, we run our dishwasher NON STOP, or that's how it seems. So having an energy efficient appliance that is also durable, and does the job the first time, is very important to me. I'm going to run some facts that I found very interesting when reading up on Energy Star dishwashers.

If you have a dishwasher OLDER than 1994...
  • You are paying an EXTRA $35 each year on utility costs; and
  • You are wasting more than 10 gallons of water PER CYCLE.

Now, to those who may think hand washing your dishes is even more energy efficient...think again! Over a lifetime (this is dishwasher lifetime, not human lifetime...so more like 10 years), hand washing your dishes costs $431 more in energy and water than using an Energy Star qualified dishwasher.

Other facts on hand washing:
  • Hand washing costs $40 more per year in utility costs;
  • You spend 230 MORE hours a year by hand washing (scrubbing, rinsing, drying each dish);
  • Hand washing isn't as clean. Water temps in a dishwasher can reach 140 degrees allowing for improved disinfection; and
  • Hand washing can end up using an additional 5,000 gallons of water each year!

Are those stats shocking to you? Not only was I shocked to read this, but excited to know that we made the right choice in picking an Energy Star dishwasher when remodeling our kitchen. I'm saving time, money, and helping the environment!

Here at Fehrenbacher Cabinets, we are happy to offer energy efficient appliances for your home! Give us a call to learn more!

A FEW FACTS ON U.S. FORESTS

There are an estimated 745 million acres of forest in the U.S.

6 trees are planted for every one harvested in the U.S.

In the early 1900s, 20-50 million acres were lost to fires each year. Today, that is between 2-7 million acres, a reduction of 86%.

Hardwood volume increases by 5.27 billion cubic feet annually-even after harvests, fires, insects, and disease.

80% of the trees planted each year are planted by forest product companies and private timberland owners. Annually, over 1.7 billion trees are planted in the U.S. That's 4.8 million a day!

Forest growth has exceeded harvest since the 1940s. Today, growth exceeds harvest by 47%.
THE NEW 'EARTHY' NEUTRAL
There is a new color taking over recently and it just so happens to be a very earthy color. Sage has recently become one of the ‘new neutrals.’ This green with slightly silver undertones blends with many colors: metallics, grays, whites, and blacks, and goes great with warm wood tones. Not daring enough to paint all of your kitchen cabinets in this color...what about just your island? Don't want to commit to tiling your entire bathroom or back splash in sage....what about just the walls? If changing your wall colors and cabinets colors aren't for you, fear not. This color can (more than likely) be incorporated quite easily into your current décor. Artwork, live plants, pillows, rugs, accent pieces (side tables/chairs) and accessories can bring in this earthy pop of color! Here are some pics of sage in action.
We love to hear from our clients!
We love our cabinets and marble counter and sink. Your care, expertise and passion for your work changed me and transformed our bathroom. The guys installation completed your work. Now we're thinking of using the downstairs as an Airbnb since it is so nice! I dreaded this guest bathroom project and thought once it was being installed, it could never come in as estimated; then the bill arrived and we were relieved. You are brilliant! Fehrenbacher Cabinets has a great reputation, now I personally know why.
