Empowering Student Success: A Collaborative Effort in Student Outreach
Once a student receives an acceptance letter from Chico State, a critical window of opportunity opens for our campus community to extend support and guidance before they finalize their enrollment decision. With over 25,000 admitted students to reach out to this spring semester alone, the Office of Admissions recognized the importance of mobilizing resources efficiently. Enter a collaborative effort between the Office of Admissions and the Division of Information Technology (DoIT), spearheaded by Jeff Logsdon and his team, aimed at leveraging technology and tapping into the energy of our faculty and student body to enhance student outreach.
The Division of IT’s Project and Change Management Office (PCMO) and the Salesforce Enterprise Applications (EAPP) team played a pivotal role in enabling access to prospective student data and telecounseling tools for our colleges in Chico State 360, a constituency relationship management (CRM) tool used to communicate with admitted students. This initiative, managed by Jeff Logsdon in partnership with Wendy Bentley, Ryan Patten, Cheryl Lugo and supported by Todd McGregor, aimed to streamline the recruiting process and provide all academic colleges with the necessary tools to engage with admitted students effectively.
| |
Getting Students in Marketing Courses Involved: The collaboration extended to the College of Business, where the telecounseling tool was integrated into the marketing class curriculum. Under the guidance of Professor Tom Villa, students embarked on outbound sales calls to admitted students, providing them with practical experience while assisting in student yield efforts.
Data Transparency for All Colleges in Real-time: The creation of a yield dashboard within Chico State 360 proved invaluable in monitoring intents to enroll by college and program. This tool not only facilitated progress tracking but also empowered colleges to make data-driven decisions in their recruitment strategies. With over 100 call campaigns created since February, involving both staff and student assistants, the impact of this collaborative effort is evident. The ability to keep track of call logs and their outcomes within Chico State 360 enables the creation of dashboards and reports that assess the effectiveness of enrollment initiatives and helps in continuously improving our methods and utilizing technology more effectively.

I’m graduating this year! How should I save the work I did on Adobe Creative Cloud and Google when I leave Chico State?
As you approach the end of your academic journey at Chico State, it's essential to take action to retain access to your important data. It is recommended to start the process of migrating your files from your Chico State account, including Adobe Creative Cloud content and Google Drive files, prior to leaving the university. Migrating your data now will prevent any data loss in the future.

Meet Brad Layne
Information Research Technician III for the department of Institutional Research and Strategic Analytics
I am an Information Technology Consultant working in the Academic Technology department where I lead the Learning Technology Services
I am part of the reporting side of Institutional Research and Strategic Analytics (IRSA). I work closely with departments to build reports and dashboards using our tools such as Tableau and Cognos. Two notable projects in my two years on campus include an executive level Human Resources dashboard and an Enrollment Management reporting dashboard.
I was born in Chico and grew up in the local area. I’ve spent quite a bit of time on Campus since my parents and brother also work(ed) for the University. My mom, brother and I are Chico State alums. I graduated in December 2018 with a degree in Computer Information Systems and minors in business, computer science, and information technology. I plan to continue my education by earning a master’s degree in data science.
I am an avid runner. I’ve completed 31 half marathons, 5 triathlons, 10 mud runs, and other races at varying distances. One of my proudest achievements is qualifying and competing in the Warrior Dash World Championship alongside Olympians and professional Spartan runners.
In my free time, I enjoy traveling, flying FPV drones, 3D designing and printing, hiking, playing video and board games, and watching movies.
If you see me around campus, please feel free to stop and say hi.

Meet Francie Divine
Web Services Lead for the department of Technology Equity and Inclusion
As the Web Services Lead, my typical duties are to manage the day-to-day operations of our department, including our new web strategy involving many of our campus stakeholders. We are really excited to be spearheading this vital transformation for Chico State. I am also a Graphic Designer who sometimes teaches classes in the MADT department.
Other fun things about me:
- I have two kids in junior high, who are exceptionally precocious.
- I enjoy hand lettering, and paint quotation murals on my living room meant to inspire my kids.
- My office has one of only two existing windows in the basement of Meriam Library.
- I keep two 5-gallon water bottles in our office closet because I'm paranoid we'll be trapped in the basement after an earthquake.
- One of the most enjoyable things about working for the Division of IT is hanging in the basement with all the creative folks.
- If you see me around campus, ask me about our office mascot.
