Thank you so much for your generous donations to a truly rewarding program, which will help to make a Merry Christmas for thousands of children along the Texas coastline.
We also wish to thank Coastline Marine, Elite Diesel Service, POC Rod and Gun and Waterloo Rod Company for promoting the Toy Run and collecting donations!

Captain's Corner
Written by Captain Kevin Deerman
Now that LED lights are becoming available for just about every interior and exterior fixture on your boat you may want to consider an upgrade. The LED's are not only safer but they're longer lasting and draw fewer amps than fluorescent and halogen bulbs. Captains I've spoken with that upgraded their light bulbs have said that they were surprised by how much easier it was to keep the boat cool after they made the switch. Changing out all of your lighting isn't cheap but it will definitely be worth it in the long run.

The Learning Curve
Written by Captain Troy Day
I'm sure most of us have wondered what the Blue Marlin you have been watching chase bait for 20 minutes has done and will do for the rest of the day, I sure do. I posted an article a couple months ago detailing the horizontal movement of Gulf Blue Marlin.
Click here to read a follow up article discussing their vertical movement, which will give you an idea how Blue Marlin fill their days.
Here are some things I found interesting:
- 1 blue marlin had a dive to almost 1300 ft.
- On the 2 days leading up to the full moon, they had frequent night dives, but not on other nights
- The fish in figure 4, during some days spent a ton of time 80-100 ft down, on others, it seems to move up and down constantly, from the surface to 300 ft.
- There was significant difference between the eastern gulf and the western gulf fish behavior
- They spent almost 60% of their time within 150 ft of the surface and almost 80% within 300 ft.
