Town Council Meeting on May 6

The Town will hold a Council meeting on May 6, 2024, at 3 p.m. via Zoom. Town Council meetings are being conducted using a hybrid model where members of Council can participate in person at Town Hall or electronically via Zoom.


At this time, members of the public are encouraged to view the meeting by watching the live stream through the Town’s Municipal Calendar web page.


Should you wish to delegate to a Council meeting, please complete the online delegation form no later than one business day before the meeting is to be held.


If you would like to submit feedback, please email your comments to clerks@haltonhills.ca Comments submitted will be circulated to Council Members in advance of the meeting and will be part of the public record.

Intention to Designate Properties


Staff have completed Research and Evaluation Reports for three properties following the Town’s Council-approved Heritage Register Prioritization Strategy in response to Bill 23, the More Homes, Built Faster Act, 2022. These subject properties meet the criteria outlined in Ontario Regulation 9/06 for designation under Part IV of the Ontario Heritage Act.


Staff recommends that Council state its intention to designate the properties.

GSL Banner Advertising Program


The baseball diamond banner advertising program has successfully raised funds for the Field of Dreams project. GSL has contributed $26,437.50 towards the banner advertising program between 2020 and 2023. These funds were specifically directed to the Trafalgar Sports Park Phase 6 – Field of Dreams Joint Project.

The report proposes the formalization of the ongoing partnership between the Town and GSL through a Memorandum of Understanding (MOU).

Superior Court Rules in Favour of Town on Truck Terminal Injunction


The Town of Halton Hills was successful in having a temporary injunction issued against truck depots on Hornby Road and Steeles Avenue built without any Town approvals by the Superior Court of Justice for Ontario.

This year’s theme for the annual emergency preparedness campaign is Plan for Every Season. From May 5-11, all levels of government, and various organizations and businesses, will work to share the common message of recognizing potential risks and preparing for the unexpected.

Recruitment Now On for Halton Hills Fire Department


The Halton Hills Fire Department is currently seeking part-time firefighters to work out of the Acton fire station on Churchill Road.


Applications will be accepted until end of day on Tuesday, May 7.

The Town is developing a new Fire Master Plan (FMP) to ensure we continue to meet the needs of our community, advance strategic objectives, and plan for future growth.

Discover Serenity on Fairy Lake


Locals and visitors are invited to dive into the calm waters of Fairy Lake in Acton and embark on a paddling adventure, even if they don’t have a boat. Thanks to the partnership with Holy Cow Canoe (HCC), people can rent stand-up paddleboards, canoes, and kayaks. The Fairy Lake Boathouse can be found at Prospect Park.

Wines and Spines


Residents are invited to join the event of the year for book lovers. The event will be take place on Wednesday, June 19 from 6 – 9:30 p.m. at the John Elliott Theatre (JET).

The festivities begin at 6 p.m. with a wine and cheese reception in the lobby of the Halton Hills Cultural Centre (cash bar), offering attendees the opportunity to mingle and connect. At 7:30 p.m. all guests will move to the JET for presentations by publishing representatives.
