Each June our churches have an exciting opportunity to partner together financially for the spread of the gospel right here in Greene County and beyond. The Jim Joslin Missions Offering was established in 2001 to encourage and fund missions that are close to the heart of Greene County Baptists, yet are not necessarily included in our general budget. For instance, here are some ways the JJMO has been utilized for Kingdom impact in the past year:
-A church in the heart of Springfield hosted an evangelistic block party for their neighborhood. They applied for a JJMO ministry grant and were awarded funds to help pay for the event which reached many of their neighbors.
-GCBA conducted a pastors’ conference in Guadalajara as part of our longstanding partnership in that region. JJMO funds were used to provide lodging, meals and resources for pastors and their wives to be refreshed and encouraged in the Lord’s work.
-A leader care fund was established at GCBA to provide spiritual care and counseling for pastors in crisis. This was made possible through JJMO.
-JJMO funds were awarded to one of our ethnic churches to undergird their vision of planting five churches in southwest Missouri over the next five years.
-Live Nativity reached hundreds of people with the gospel through a dramatic presentation of Jesus’s life and ministry. This was made possible by the JJMO.
-Partner ministries such as: BSU (collegiate ministry), Freeway (addiction ministry), Hand-in-Hand (immigrant/refugee ministry) and Lifebuilders (multi-housing ministry) receive support through the JJMO.
To support these ministries and many more, please consider partnering with your sister churches to advance the Kingdom of Jesus Christ through the JJMO. Our goal for this year’s offering is $10,000. June is the emphasis month, but you can give at any point during the year. JJMO prayer guides and offering envelopes are available upon request. Please contact our office and we will be happy to get you materials.
