Dear Sisters,

On Sunday, June 9, Sisterhood held our Annual Meeting, Installation of our Board of Directors and recognition of our Aware Honorees at McLain’s Bakery. A big thanks to Chairs Kristi Kanarek and Shanny Morgenstern for their wonderful choice of venue, the beautiful program guide, delicious food and decorations! The well-deserving awards to Kristi Kanarek for Service to Sisterhood, Alissa Yamnitz for Emerging Leader, and Rita Sudhalter, Shoshana Honoree, were beautifully presented by friends, Shari Barr, Shannon Maker and Carol Schwartz. Special guest, Sonia Warshawski (Big Sonia) was there to honor Rita, whose parents were in the ghetto and camps with Sonia. Mazel Tov to our new Board of Directors and todah rabah, to Rabbis Kramer and Brazner for their part in the Installation and for always being present and supportive of Sisterhood.

During the event, we highlighted the many ways Sisterhood serves the Congregation, the Community and Sisterhood members through Sisterhood community service projects, Girls Night Out, Yalla! dinners, blood drives, FUNdraising projects and Sundays with Sisterhood (to name a few!). Now we turn our attention to another year. Our newsletter, the Connection, is key to staying in touch and informed each month. Special thanks to Jody Cosner for putting it together for us. We appreciate your support and remind you to please join Sisterhood this year.

Sisterhood wishes everyone a fun and safe 4th of July, as we celebrate the freedoms that we have in America. Enjoy your summer!

Mitzvah Moments

Three volunteer opportunities on Monday, July 15

1:00pm-2:00pm - Click here to help make PB&J sandwiches for Micah Ministries. Food insecurity is at an all-time high, and we are needed now more than ever. Many of the children that would normally have access to free lunch during the school year, need sandwiches this summer. We will be making more sandwiches and need up to 20 volunteers. Held at B'nai Jehudah.

2:00pm-3:00pm - Click here to help prep cookie dough in our kitchen for Shabbat Onegs. Space is limited to 4 people. Held at B'nai Jehudah.

5:00pm-7:00pm - Click here to help Micah Ministries serve dinner to the community. It's a very meaningful way to spend a few hours. Held at Independence Boulevard Christian Church, 506 Gladstone Ave. Kansas City, MO. Contact Marcia Soltz for more information or to set up a carpool.

Let's Play Mah Jongg

During the summer, players will host Mah Jongg in their homes. We're having a blast. We had three tables in June. We will email locations to those who sign up. Mah Jongg is a wonderful way to have fun and meet other Sisters. New players are always welcome! We are happy to teach you and answer any questions. Come watch a few hands. For questions or to join our group, please email Lois Bernstein.
