St. Patrick's Day Dance at Blaisdell

Stay happy and healthy through dance! Learn official international line dances, and have fun improving your coordination, posture, motor memory, and dance skills in this class. Most of all, enjoy dancing with others! Participants are asked to wear comfortable, closed-toe shoes. Some line dance experience is required for the intermediate class. Instructor: Selina Chi.

Part lecture and part fitness class, this course is designed to teach older adults about how exercise and proper nutrition lead to good health as we age. Participants will also learn the physiological changes that occur with aging, as well as activities that help prevent falls. Citrus College presents this free, non-credit course for older adults as part of their continuing education program. Apply by filling out an application available at the Joslyn Center; final enrollment will take place with Citrus College. Participants will need an email address in order to register through Citrus College.

Scam Stopper Breakfast - Thank You!

On Thursday, February 15, seniors enjoyed a free breakfast sponsored by the Kiwanis Club of Claremont while they learned about the latest scams, and how to prevent falling victim to them, from a panel of experts. Panelists included representatives from the Department of Financial Protection and Innovation and the California Department of Insurance. A special thank you to Assembly Member Chris Holden, the City of Claremont, and the Contractors State License Board for organizing this important educational event.

As soon as Miss Wonderly shows up, trouble follows as Sam's partner is murdered and Sam is accosted by a man (Peter Lorre) demanding he locate a valuable statuette. Sam, entangled in a dangerous web of crime and intrigue, soon realizes he must find the one thing they all seem to want: the bejeweled Maltese falcon.

Trained volunteers from AARP Tax Aide are available to provide assistance to taxpayers with low to moderate income. Services are offered by appointment at the Joslyn Center on Thursdays until mid-April.


Taxpayers can make their appointments for tax prep services at the Joslyn Center online! Appointments are live on the AARP Tax Aide website. Joslyn Center staff will assist those unable to book appointments online.

LA Regional Senior Food Bank

The monthly senior food bank, hosted by the Senior Program in collaboration with the Los Angeles Regional Food Bank, takes place on the second Thursday of each month from 1:00 p.m. to 2:30 p.m. in Larkin Park. LA County residents ages 60+ are invited to participate in the Commodity Supplemental Food Program, which provides a free food kit once a month to seniors who meet income guidelines. The food kits are prepared with specific nutritional needs in mind, such as meats, canned fruits and vegetables, dry milk, cereals, and more! Teen Techies

The generation that grew up with technology is here to help you with your mobile device! Teen volunteers from Claremont High School are available for FREE one-on-one tech tutoring on topics like apps, games, social media, and more. Bring your phone, tablet, or laptop to the Youth Activity Center (YAC) to learn how to use your device to its fullest potential.

Join us for a hot meal, social activities, music, and various recreational happenings Monday through Friday. Lunch is served at the Joslyn Center (660 N. Mountain Ave.) at 11:30 a.m. and at Blaisdell Community Center (440 S. College Ave.) at 12:00 p.m. First come, first served. No reservations required.


This program is funded, in part, by the Los Angeles County Area Agency on Aging.

*A voluntary donation of $2 is suggested for adults 60+.

Spring Celebration!

Bring the family out to enjoy interactive booths, a petting zoo, and a live performance from Minh Tran the Magician. Mr. and Mrs. Bunny will be present to take pictures throughout the entire event. In addition to the traditional egg hunt, the City of Claremont will be hosting a Special Needs Egg Hunt, so all children can enjoy this annual event and activity. The Special Needs Egg Hunt will begin at 9 AM on the basketball court. The traditional Egg Hunt will begin at its usual time, 10:45 AM, in front of the stage. Thank you to the Kiwanis Club of Claremont for hosting their annual Pancake Breakfast, which will begin at 8 AM.
