City of Chino Cooling Centers

With temperatures on the rise, the City of Chino is here to help you beat the heat with cooling centers available for all residents. These centers are activated when temperatures exceed 100 degrees, providing a safe and cool environment for everyone. Minors must be accompanied by an adult.


Cooling Centers in Chino:


Neighborhood Activity Center, 5201 D Street

  • Open Monday through Friday from 9 a.m. to 8 p.m. and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.  

Senior Center, 13170 Central Avenue

  • Open Monday through Thursday from 8 a.m. to 7 p.m., Friday from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., Saturday from 8 a.m. to 4 p.m., and Sunday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

Preserve Community Center, 15800 Main Street

  • Open Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, and Friday from 3 to 8 p.m., Thursday from 1 to 8 p.m., and Saturday from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. 


When temperatures reach the triple digits, the City of Chino encourages the community to take proper precautions:


  • Wear loose, lightweight, and light-colored clothing
  • Drink plenty of fluids to stay hydrated
  • Avoid high-energy outdoor exercises or activities
  • Check in on family members, older adults, and neighbors
  • Do not leave young children and pets in unattended vehicles

FREE Summer Lunch

The City of Chino has partnered with Powered by Gratitude to provide FREE Summer Lunches, available Monday through Friday through August 2nd.


Children 18 years of age or younger or persons 19 and over with a mental or physical disability can enjoy free lunches.

West Nile Virus Update

Nineteen mosquito samples recently collected tested positive for West Nile Virus in Chino. Samples were collected near:

  • San Antonio Ave/ Walnut Ave
  • San Antonio Ave / Riverside Dr
  • Fern Ave / Riverside Dr
  • Monte Vista Ave / Walnut Ave
  • Cypress Ave / Riverside Dr

Citrus Disease

The California Department of Food and Agriculture (CDFA) has detected the presence of Huanglongbing (HLB) disease and its carrier, the Asian Citrus Psyllid (ACP), in our vicinity, posing a risk to local citrus trees.

 

Do your part and report signs of HLB you may be seeing on your backyard citrus trees to 1-800-491-1899.

Join us this summer for Chino Summer Nights! Enjoy a FREE showing of your favorite family-friendly movies, starting at dusk, right on the City Hall lawn.

The Summer Concerts on the Lawn is brought to you by the Chino Kiwanis Club and the City of Chino. You are invited to enjoy an evening of music and food. The Summer Concert Series is held on Thursdays, 7:00-9:00 p.m., on the City Hall lawn.


Please bring your chair or a blanket and enjoy the concert! Food is available from the Kiwanis Club and other local service clubs. All proceeds support community programs and the summer concerts. For more information, please visit www.cityofchino.org/concerts.

SENIORS AT THE SQUARE CONCERTS & DANCING

Date: July 29 and August 5, 12

Time: 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m.

Location: Aguiar Square, 13191 6th St.


All seniors 50 years and older are invited to the six-week, outdoor summer concert series held during July and August on Monday evenings at Aguiar Square. FREE entertainment from 5:30 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. Please bring a lawn chair and your favorite snacks!
