I cannot believe it is already November! Time flies and this time of year is probably the quickest.
First, I want to thank all our supporters and attendees for joining us last week for the First Annual Youth Mental Health Summit in Reno. It was a full day of education, connection, gratitude, and hope. Also, a great reminder that mental health should be a priority for each of us.
November and December seem to be a bit fast and furious between work and social obligations, visits with family and friends, out-of-town guests, and all of the related festivities. Do you have a way to help deal with some of the stressors related to the holidays? Year after year, one of my favorite escapes continues to be Hallmark movies. Getting lost in a romance, that usually involves an inn or a bakery, snow at just the right time, and always a happy ending, gives me time to pause and relax. We hope you all will take a moment to think about the things that bring you comfort, joy, and a smile, and make sure you carve out time for that activity, I guarantee it will keep you moving forward during the crazy days! Whether you take a walk, listen to music, soak in a tub, or watch a movie, do what you can to take good care so that you are able to maintain the best version of yourself for the whole season.
Read on for some great Thanksgiving resources for families in need and for information about our Community Health Worker program. We hope to see many of you at the Wobble Before You Gobble Race on Thanksgiving morning, and we wish everyone a Happy Thanksgiving filled with making great memories.
Thank you for your continued support.

NV Early Childhood Community Health Worker (EC-CHW) Program
|
|
In April 2022, The Children’s Cabinet launched the Early Childhood Community Health Worker (EC-CHW) Program to support families of young children in early childhood settings, as well as early childhood care providers. The EC-CHWs facilitate access to services by addressing social determinants of health like housing and food security to improve overall health outcomes in a community. They are equipped with tools and education to provide brief interventions, offer non-traditional counseling, and share the appropriate health education and resources. These services ensure timely emotional/social support that is culturally appropriate for individuals and families facing challenges in accessing available health and social services.
The EC-CHW program is currently operating in Las Vegas and has bilingual CHWs to serve the needs of both English- and Spanish-speaking families. The program will be starting in Reno later this fall.

Ways to Give: GivingTuesday!
|
|
November 29 is GivingTuesday 2022!
GivingTuesday is a global generosity movement unleashing the power of radical generosity. Created in 2012, it has a simple idea: a day that encourages people to do good. Since then, it has grown into a year-round global movement that inspires hundreds of millions of people to give, collaborate, and celebrate generosity.
The Children’s Cabinet will launch our GivingTuesday campaign later this month to inspire donors. You can help us raise funds to assist local families with basic needs - including food, rental assistance, and utilities.
Plan to donate on November 29, or any day, by visiting us online! And visit our social media platforms for more information.
