Cake4Kids delivers free custom homemade birthday cakes to at-risk and underserved youth across the country. The youth they serve may be in foster or kinship care, living in group homes, survivors of domestic violence or human trafficking, living in low-income housing with or without a parent, or even homeless. Cake4Kids partners with agencies, private and public, to provide custom, homemade cakes and sweets.
Pictured are just a few of the cakes our advocates have ordered and received from our local chapter - Cake4Kids of Northern Virginia! Interested in becoming a volunteer baker? Find out how HERE. Don't have the time to volunteer, but still want to donate to a great cause? You can donate HERE.

Boxes of Basics provides children in need with seasonal boxes of quality new and gently used clothing in their size. Their amazing volunteers hand select and pack every Box of Basics and tailor it for an individual child. Each box is packed with a variety of outfits - pants, shirts, dresses, jackets, shoes, socks, pajamas, and one "Sunday Best" outfit.
At CASA CIS, we often work with families who don't have the means to purchase their children the clothes they need. When we order a Box of Basics, the advocate picks it up and hand delivers it to their CASA kids. Each outfit is packaged together with ribbon. The children are always so excited to open their box -- it's like opening gifts!

Halftime is a self-proclaimed amateur band beginning the second half of their lives. A dentist by profession, but a musician at heart, Dr. Philip Koh decided to put together a band in adulthood. Every year, he puts on a concert right in his office at Chantilly Dental & Implant, with donations going to their chosen charity. This year, they chose CASA CIS as the recipient of the donations, and we could not have been more grateful and thrilled!
A special shoutout to Joanne Yi, one of our fantastic Guardians ad Litem, who recommended our organization as the recipient!

A heartfelt thank you to Jack and Jill of America, Manassas-Woodbridge Chapter, and Tara Cook for their generous donation to CASA CIS! We are deeply grateful for their support and the impactful work they do. The Manassas-Woodbridge Chapter is a pillar in our community, dedicated to nurturing future African American leaders through leadership development, volunteer service, philanthropic giving, and civic duty.
Their support helps us continue our work in providing a voice for children in need. Together, we can make a difference!

UVA Health has given CASA CIS another grant to continue our efforts to provide mental health support for our staff and advocates! Because of this grant, we were able to offer monthly yoga sessions with Eboni (in-person, and via Zoom), and we took a deep dive into "Trauma Stewardship: An Everyday Guide to Caring for Self While Caring for Others" by Laura van Dernoot Lipsky. Through reading this book and holding two book chats, we were able to explore practical strategies for navigating the challenging terrain of caregiving and secondary trauma. Thank you, again, to UVA Health for the grant that made our Wellness Wednesdays possible, and for awarding us another grant to continue the support!

Congratulations to our very own Executive Director, Linda Krieg, on her recent graduation from Leadership Prince William! Linda's dedication and commitment to our community inspire us all, as she continues to champion the cause of children in need.

Last month, CASA CIS had the privilege of attending the Human Services Alliance of Greater Prince William's annual meeting.
The Human Services Alliance is a nonprofit association dedicated to supporting both traditional and non-traditional human services providers in Prince William County and the cities of Manassas and Manassas Park. Through their efforts, they offer valuable services including networking, customized training, technical assistance, continuing education, advocacy, and more. We were grateful for the opportunity to connect with fellow organizations and continue our mission to better serve the community!
