Social Digest:
The Chapter Chatter

Welcome to Chapter Chatter - February 2024. Happy Leap Day from USA Dance to you!

Welcome to the New Vice President of Social Dance

Ken Pandozzi - VP of Social Dance

Welcome to our new Vice President of Social Dance Ken Pandozzi. Ken was appointed by President Ken Richards and unanimously ratified by the Board of Directors. He has been active in USA Dance for close to 30 years beginning in Rhode Island and most recently as Chapter President of his local chapter in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. Before becoming the VP of Social Dance he most recently served for several years as the District Director of District 5 helping chapter rebuild after the COVID pandemic. Over the next year he hopes to work with our Chapter Relations Director, Phil Sisk, to reorganize the structure of the Social Dance Division to provide more coordination and support for local chapter leaders. Please feel free to contact him at social-vp@usadance.org with your questions, concerns, ideas, and suggestions for how to improve Social Dancing in the United States.

USA Dance Chapter Power Hours

The Social Dance Council is excited to announce the second Chapter Power Hour will focus on Money Matters with Treasurer Esther Freeman and Assistant Treasurer Karen Chaleki. These peer learning opportunities provide current and future chapter leaders with opportunities to share lessons learned by your chapter on what works and doesn’t work because our organization only becomes stronger when we all work together.

Benefits Corner: Insurance - Boring, but Important!

With our digests, we’d like to take the time to remind you of various benefits of USA Dance membership. In prior months, we showed you how you could save the entire cost of your membership with PerkSpot, DSI London, Dance Vision.  This month we’ll talk about insurance.

At this moment, you’re asking yourself, “wait a second, USA Dance - why do I care about insurance?”.  Simple - it’s all fun and games until someone gets hurt. Though ballroom dance is one of the safest sports, wouldn’t you rather go to a social dance knowing that if something were to happen that you were covered? That’s what insurance is for.  USA Dance’s insurance benefits provide important coverage to all USA Dance members and organizers during USA Dance activities. This provides our members with important peace of mind that allows you to concentrate on what you do best - competing, coaching, hosting competitions, or serving the needs of dancers in your community!

National Calendar for Upcoming Events
The National Organization continues to try to inspire America to get back to social dancing and part of this is to promote chapter based dance events throughout the country via our calendar so that when people begin traveling and want to social dance they have a single place to look OR to inspire other chapters to begin holding events as public health restrictions allow it. The calendar is available at https://usadance.org/events/event_list.asp

To ensure your event is listed you can either:
please create the event within your chapter’s SocialLink group, complete this form, and then National Officers will be able to add it to the National calendar; OR
Email the relevant info (date, time, chapter, theme or event name, contact info, flyer, etc.) to chapter-announcements@usadance.org and the Marketing & Communications Committee will add it for you.

Did you miss a previous digest OR want to find something that was contained in them without searching your email history? Search no more - our National website now has all social dance digests at your fingertips https://usadance.org/page/SocialDigest
