Message from the A.J. Baynes
Each Spring, as the snow begins to melt, the restaurant patios start to open, and sidewalks along Main street begin buzzing with activity.
The energy and optimism in the air are palpable. And this year, perhaps more than ever, we are starting to see our community awaken and come alive again. With 39% of Erie County residents having at least one vaccination shot and 25% completing a vaccine series, there is an even greater sense of momentum building. We see it first hand at the Chamber. A flurry of membership activity and several new investors have joined the ranks in the past forty days. We are eager to build off the optimism and are rapidly filling our calendar with excellent opportunities for you to network, educate your team, and grow your business.

This week, we kick off our three-part "Marketing Academy" in conjunction with Spectrum Reach on April 15 via zoom. This session will focus on defining your marketing goals, using those goals to target your audience, and deploying your strategy in the best way possible to achieve success. You are not required to participate in all three sessions upon registration. We have built this program with our members in mind. We heard from each of you, the need to learn how to be more cutting edge in marketing efforts and understanding all that is available. Spectrum Reach has even offered their team of professionals to meet with members for a "Big Ideas" brainstorming session at a later date for those participants. The value and depth of knowledge Spectrum Reach bring to the topic is too good an opportunity for any company to pass up.

Explore the Buffalo-Niagara region on a Reddy bike
As a way to encourage exercise, recreation and green transportation, Independent Health and Shared Mobility, Inc. has launched the sixth season of the popular Reddy Bikeshare program. Nearly 400 GPS-enabled Reddy bikes are available for short-term rent at 90 stations throughout Buffalo and Niagara Falls.
With spring now in the air, it’s the perfect time to hop on a Reddy bike. Here’s how it works:

1.     Sign up – Download the Social Bicycles (SoBi) app on your mobile device or on the web and choose your pass to get started. Ensure that your phone’s GPS is enabled to find bikes available nearby.

2.     Reserve a bike – Use the app to reserve a bike or simply walk up to it and enter your account number on the bike’s keypad. When prompted, enter your 4-digit PIN to release the lock and start your ride. Remember to ride safely and obey all traffic laws.

3.     Enjoy your time – You can make multiple stops during your ride without a parking fee. Press the “HOLD” button and lock the bike to a rack. Just enter your 4-digit PIN to unlock and continue riding.

4.     Lock – When you reach your destination, lock the bike and check the keypad to ensure your trip has ended.

Reddy Bikeshare is coming off its most successful year to date as more people signed up to ride a Reddy bike in 2020 than in the previous four seasons combined. Since 2016, members have ridden a staggering 282,882 pedal-powered miles – which is a distance further than that of the moon – and burned a collective 11.4 million calories.

Independent Health members are eligible for a 20 percent discount off an annual Reddy Bikeshare membership. To learn how to register for a membership, as well as view prices and a map of bike stations, visit www.reddybikeshare.com.
