Required Attire:
Full-length pants (no capri pants, shorts, or skirts) as well as closed-toe footwear will be required with a harder surface – no high heels as there is a potential for getting caught in grating. Long sleeve shirts preferred but not required.
Safety glasses, yellow safety vests, earplugs, and potentially hardhats and dust masks— all provided by Guardian— will also be required.
General Safety Guidelines:
Factory tours include exposure to hazardous environments, including high temperatures, uneven walking surfaces, and electromagnetic fields. Individuals with pacemakers, pregnancies, or other medical issues may wish to opt-out. As considerable walking is normally involved— the better part of a mile in total— please let us know upon registration if this will be an issue.
Photography will not be permitted during the tour, though conceptual animations of the float production and coating deposition processes are available on our website. Upon request, we may be able to provide photos of specific parts of the plant following clearance from our leadership.
Tours must not be attended by employees or close affiliates of competitive companies.
**Aluminum articles, including soda cans, are not permitted within the plant.

The Finger Lakes Area Chamber of Commerce held its April Business After Hours Networking Mixer on April 10 at the National Memorial Day Museum. Located in downtown Waterloo, the birthplace of Memorial Day, the National Memorial Day Museum is a branch of the Waterloo Library and Historical Society. The event drew a large crowd of regional attendees who had never visited the site before and were eager to learn about its significance in our local and regional history.
In 1866, Henry C. Welles and Gen. John B. Murray planned the first Memorial Day in Waterloo, NY and for over 150 years, residents have remembered the day with parades, ceremonies, and celebrations. The Museum and its exhibits also highlight the 1966 Centennial in Waterloo that led to the recognition of Waterloo as the official birthplace of Memorial Day.
During the event, Cyndi Park-Sheils, executive director for the Waterloo Library and Historical Society spoke about the properties that are under their umbrella and programs and services that they offer, including the Terwilliger Museum and Fatzinger Hall, which the Chamber hosted the grand re-opening for in May of last year. Several board members were also present who offered insight into the properties, their history, and future plans, including upcoming campaigns that individuals can donate to to help with new programming and preservation.

The June BAH will take place at Guardian Glass. Reservations are required one week in advance. The cost to attend Business After Hours is $10 for Members and $20 for non-members unless individuals have purchased a BAH Season Pass. This event is included for all 2024 Season Pass Holders.
