Poking the Hornet’s Nest of IVF

A sweeping decision by the Alabama Supreme Court in February sent shock waves through the world of assisted reproduction. Justice Jay Mitchell, writing on behalf of the court’s 7-2 majority, concluded that human embryos in IVF clinics “are ‘children,’ … without exception based on developmental stage, physical location, or any other ancillary characteristics.”

Deacon Schultz, Rich Perkins called to ordination


We thank God for Deacon Joseph Schultz and Rich Perkins! Archbishop Thomas J. Rodi announced during the Chrism Mass on March 26 that both Deacon Schultz and Rich Perkins have been called to ordination. Deacon Schultz will be ordained a priest and Rich Perkins will be ordained a transitional deacon on June 1 at the Cathedral-Basilica of the Immaculate Conception. God willing, Rich will then be ordained to the priesthood in 2025!

Deacon Andrew M. Pitts has been appointed as Deacon to St. Vincent de Paul Parish, Tillmans Corner, effective April 1, 2024.
