St. Patrick's Basketball Scorekeepers Needed

St. Patrick's is looking for former St. Patrick's students that are currently in the 8th grade or high school to work as a scorekeeper (scorebook or clock) for the upcoming IFBL and CYO basketball seasons. No experience or in-depth basketball knowledge is required. Pay is $13 per game for 1st year scorekeepers. (If your students has worked in the past, we'd love to have them back and the pay is increased each year of service through the 3rd year.) If you have a student who's interested, please have them contact our new gym supervisor, Jacob King, at jaking@stpatrickshool.net.

The Art Club will have its first meeting after school on Wednesday, September 27 in room 621 in the Fine Arts Center. All are welcome to join!

To kick off Respect Life Month on Sunday, October 1st from 2:00-3:00 PM, Charlotte Catholic students and their families are invited to form a Life Chain with students and their families from Holy Trinity. This is a very impactful event for the entire family and a great opportunity to be a witness of our belief in the value of every life, especially the unborn.

We will meet at the fenced in picnic area on the Pineville-Matthews side of Charlotte Catholic around 1:55 PM. We will then line up along Pineville-Matthews Road in front of Charlotte Catholic and pray silently for the unborn until 3 PM. Students are encouraged to wear their uniform or other CCHS spirit wear when attending. Hope to see you there!

Mayor's Youth Employment Job & Career Training Information

The City of Charlotte's Youth Program provides 16-24 year old residents with the opportunity to participate in career readiness training, free of charge.

9th Grade Suicide Prevention Program: Nikki Warren (parent, teacher, and volunteer for American Foundation for Suicide Prevention) will speak to all 9th grade students about suicide awareness and prevention (this year it will occur on October 30th).

College Admissions Representative visits:

A college representative will meet in-person at CCHS with interested Junior and Senior students. A counselor is also present. A college rep is the person who reads the application for admission, so a face-to-face meeting will serve the student well.

• Unless otherwise noted, visits will take place in the Counseling Office’s College Center.
• The student must register through SCOIR and print a screenshot of the SCOIR registration. This serves as their hall pass once their teacher signs it. It is at the teacher’s discretion if a student may attend.
• Registration closes the night prior to the visit. Students requesting to attend the day of the visit must get a pass from their counselor.
• Students needs to remember that they are representing not only themselves, but also CCHS. Come prepared with some good questions and your best behavior.

September is Suicide Prevention Awareness Month: a time to raise awareness of this stigmatized, and often taboo, topic. We use this month to shift public perception, spread hope and share vital information to people affected by suicide. Our goal is ensuring that individuals, friends, and families have access to the resources they need to discuss suicide prevention and to seek help. The counseling department would like to highlight some resources available:

Perry Virtual Experience: Women in high school who have an interest in science, medicine and/or engineering are now invited to register for a session of the Perry Virtual Experience. The Perry Virtual Experience is a free, 2.5-hour, interactive online experience for female students interested in pursuing careers in orthopedic surgery and engineering. Participants will hear from women leaders in these fields and dive into online simulations and biomechanics experiments.

Accessing your pass AFTER purchase

• The purchaser will receive an email confirmation with the digital pass attached as a PDF. This email will come from “Charlotte Catholic High School Box Office”
• The PDF in your confirmation email will suffice for gate entry. The QR code attached to your pass is unique to you and will not change! You can take a picture of your individual QR code and use it for entry into games
• You may also download the HomeTown Fan App from the App Store (Available in the Google Play store or Apple App store) and use your mobile phone # to create an account.
• Enter in your mobile number (must be the same phone number used when purchasing the pass) for 2-step verification, after which the app will pull in any tickets or passes associated with that mobile number
• Save your pass to your phone’s wallet, use the PDF from the email confirmation, or bring the printed paper copy with your respective QR code - ANY OF THESE OPTIONS WILL WORK!

Save the date! Winter sports team photos and Senior Banner photos will be taken the morning of Monday, November 20. We are excited to partner with CADY for the sports photos. Drop-in Tutoring: Each Wednesday there will be free drop-in tutoring in the library provided by the current National Honor Society students. This is an informal drop-in session intended to help students who are looking for someone to proofread an essay, explain a math concept, or help with homework in any subject. The tutoring takes place every Wednesday in the school library from 2:35 - 3:05 PM.
