August 2024

Message from the President by Charli Thyne

Is this the best the Democrat party can do?

Kamala Harris is a California coastal elite who few people truly support. Her track record is one of ultra-liberal policies, including defunding the police, abolishing ICE, pushing radical and tax-payer funded abortions, confiscating guns, and opening our borders. She was ranked the most left-wing senator in 2019, beating out the likes of Bernie Sanders (that’s not easy to do!).

Thankfully, the Republican party has nominated a true American patriot, Donald J. Trump. In striking contrast to Harris, President Trump stands for secure borders, conservatism, the Second Amendment and police/law and order. He is a staunch supporter of our troops and veterans.

We have got to rise up and do all we can to ensure that #47 will be Donald J. Trump!

We can’t count on the admittedly enjoyable Democrat chaos with their candidate selection process to carry President Trump to the White House. We need to run like we are losing. It’s so crucial to get out the vote! Staff the phones, knock on doors and get involved with projects like My Faith Votes

Another battle we must win is for the Superintendent of Public Instruction in North Carolina. Our distinguished candidate is Michele Morrow. Michele’s background in service and teaching will be critical to returning our schools to places of safety and academic excellence.

Michele will be speaking at our August 7 brunch. Her liberal opponent, Mo Green, is well-funded, so I am asking attendees to bring checkbooks and donate to Michele Morrow’s campaign. If you won’t be at the brunch, here’s her website. MRW will also be presenting a donation to her campaign. Our children matter!

Keep the faith!

Charli

Call for election workers!

A message from Annette Miller, volunteer coordinator for the Moore County GOP:

It's early August and we need MRW members to commit 8 volunteer hours for the upcoming early voting or Election Day shifts. These shifts (two separate 4-hour shifts) would be as Poll Observers (inside the polling place) or Poll Greeters (outside the polling place under the tent).

There are two early voting locations:

Aberdeen Lake Recreation Center

301 Lake Park Crossing, Aberdeen, NC 28325

Carthage Agricultural Center

707 Pinehurst Avenue, Carthage, NC 28327

Election Day commitments occur at your home precinct and should be coordinated with your precinct chair.

Sign up sheets will be provided to all attendees at the MRW brunch, at GOP HQ in the Olmsted Village Shopping Center, or by emailing annettem25@sbcglobal.net for a digital version. Bring your personal calendars to help you decide which days and times are convenient for you. It helps to have a friend help you staff the tent and/or sit inside the polling place.

Thank you for your help.

Update on MRW's Sock Hop

Postponed!

There are so many events happening at the same time in August that MRW decided to postpone the popular Sock Hop, originally scheduled for August 10, to the fall.

Stay tuned for the new date - you won't want to miss this fun fundraiser for MRW!

MRW and NCFRW well represented at RNC Convention

Our own Kay Wildt, President of the North Carolina Federation of Republican Women, was featured numerous times on TV. We were all so excited to see her!

Kay said: "To see President Trump with a bandage on his ear, and to know how close we came to losing him, deeply touched everyone at the convention. His courage in the face of an assassin's bullet was an inspiration. Wonderful to be with so many freedom-loving Americans who support President Trump. "

Our other delegate was Pauline Bruno (pictured with Christina Bobb, President Trump's lawyer and a Marine), who said the Convention was "exhilarating, exciting, serious, fun and amazing." In addition to the great speakers and being there for President Trump's acceptance speech, the highlight was the touching segment on the Gold Star families.

If you have confirmed your attendance, please remember to pick up your Membership Directory from JoJo Egitto, our Membership Chair, who will be sitting right inside the doors to the DIning Room.
