Calvert County Celebrates New Businesses


Calvert County proudly recognizes new and growing businesses within the region as a sign of economic vitality.


The Board of County Commissioners and the Department of Economic Development extend congratulations to the businesses that have opened, expanded or relocated in February and March 2024. Learn more about these businesses.

Calvert County Farmers Markets are Open


Calvert County has four Farmer’s Market locations spread throughout the county. To learn about their locations and days they are open, check out the schedule.


The Calvert County Farmers Market Association is still seeking vendors for the 2024 Farmers Market Season! Growers, producers and cottage food bakers are encouraged to apply. If you are interested in becoming a farmers market vendor, complete the farmers market application.

Keeping Up with Economic Development

Business Appreciation Week


Business Appreciation Week, also known as BAW, is an opportunity to increase public awareness about the positive impact businesses have on the local economy and the county’s commitment to assisting them in their success, especially during difficult circumstances.


BAW launched in 2006 and continues to be celebrated the first full week in May. This year, the Economic Development Team and Calvert County ambassadors visited 17 businesses, celebrated over 15 business anniversary milestones and co-hosted a Business Afterhours Event. Groundbreakings


On May 16, the Board of County Commissioners, Generation Properties, MCB Real Estate and Economic Development came together to celebrate the groundbreaking ceremony for Armory Square. When completed, Armory Square will be a vibrant hub of new anchor stores, restaurants and shops for the community.

Ribbon Cuttings


Economic Development held a ribbon cutting ceremony on May 10 to celebrate the Kid’s Art Skool Creative Celebrations expansion. They are a Southern Maryland based art studio offering classes, workshops, camps, parties and more! Visit their website to learn more.

Economic Development held a ribbon cutting ceremony on Feb. 15 to celebrate the grand re-opening of Calvert Yard Cards. They now supply a new line of party supplies and are your one-stop shop for balloon arches, signs, part decorations and more. Visit their website to learn more.

Our team held a ribbon cutting ceremony on January 26 to celebrate the opening of GWCPA. This woman- and veteran-owned certified public accounting firm recently relocated to Calvert County.
