Principal's Memo

My all-time favorite coach is John Wooden. He was an iconic basketball coach, renowned for UCLA's unprecedented 10 NCAA championships in 12 years. His philosophy emphasized character, teamwork, and relentless pursuit of personal growth. As a teacher, coach, and administrator I found myself turning back to him for inspiration. He was famous for his simple and profound quotes, deemed Woodenisms. Two of my favorites are, "Be quick, but don't hurry” and “If you don’t have time to do it right, when will you have time to do it over?” These stood out to me because they remind me that time is a scarce resource to be invested carefully. They also remind me that sometimes working more patiently and deliberately saves time in the long run.

Eagle Scout Project Achievement

The Ascension Catholic School graduate and current MCC junior, John Tomerlin, recently completed his Eagle Scout project which involved leading his troop to fundraise and build five rosary prayer boxes. These are now located throughout the Ascension campus, including the school office. The boxes were constructed from the generous donations of Ascension Church parishioners. They will be a great tribute for years to come for parishioners and school families to have access to rosary beads.
