ASHRAE demonstrates future in HVAC, solar
The American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers (ASHRAE) hosted the Southwest Gwinnett Chamber recently to introduce members to the technology in its Technology Park global headquarters. With more than 50,000 members from over 132 nations, ASHRAE is a diverse organization dedicated to advancing the arts and sciences of heating, ventilation, air conditioning and refrigeration (HVAC&R) to serve humanity and promote a sustainable world.
The renovated, 66,700-square-foot building sits on 11 acres at 180 Technology Parkway. The newly renovated facility has become a showplace for the latest HVAC&R equipment and technology, providing a destination venue for industry visitors to experience state-of-the-art technology installed in a built environment. With power generated on site, the net-zero-energy building has a number of new, emerging technologies with regard to HVAC, including a photovoltaic solar array system.
ASHRAE celebrated the grand opening of its global headquarters in Peachtree Corners in 2021. The cost to renovate the 1970s building with the net-zero technology was approximately $20 million. ASHRAE is a 501 (c)(3) professional society that provides education, carries out research, and writes standards adopted into building codes around the world.

Trails serve multiple purposes

Not only do residents enjoy the city’s trails, but these greenway paths bring job growth. Trails increase tourism, retail and restaurant opportunities, according to a National Park Service study. Major employers like them too. Right now, everyone is having a hard time finding employees so anything we can do to help companies attract employees is important. READ MORE
