New Communication Feature: ParentSquare

We are always looking for ways to improve our communication with our families, and this year we are excited to introduce a new communications platform called ParentSquare. This two-way platform is much more robust, will replace our district’s use of Remind, and will allow you to communicate directly with your child’s teacher, get updates from them and more. You can read more about this new platform below. 

Enrollment: You do not have to live in Bridgeport ISD Boundary Line in order to attend BISD

Student enrollment is up for the 2024-25 school year, and we are excited to welcome new employees, students and families to Bridgeport ISD. In these first few weeks of the year, we want to remind our community that BISD is an open enrollment district, meaning that you do not have to live within the zoned school boundaries to attend our district! We welcome all families from any surrounding areas to enroll their students and become a part of the Bridgeport family. If you know a friend or family member in the area that lives outside the district boundaries but wants their child to attend Bridgeport ISD, please pass this information along to them.

Teachers of the Year Honored at Region 11 Banquet

Superintendent Dr. Amy Ellis joined our Secondary Teacher of the Year Tara Darst and Elementary Teacher of the Year Sterling Dunn at the Region 11 Teacher of the Year banquet last week. We are so proud of these teachers for earning this distinction and for being recognized among their peers!

New this Year: ParentSquare Parent Communications Platform 

We are excited to launch a new parent communication platform called ParentSquare this school year. This tool will be replacing Remind and is designed to keep parents and guardians informed and encourage greater engagement and connection with Bridgeport ISD. It provides a safe way for district administrators, school principals, teachers, staff, and parents to:

• Send and receive school and class information
• Share pictures and files
• See calendar items
• Sign up to volunteer
• Schedule parent-teacher conferences
• and much more . . . all in one centralized place!

Free & Reduced-Price Meal Application Giveaway

Want to win a bicycle or a pair of AirPods? All you have to do to be eligible to win is complete a Free & Reduced-Price meals application for the 2024-25 school year! The Child Nutrition Department is giving away a bicycle to one student at BES, BIS and BMS and a pair of AirPods to a BHS student! 

Families who have already received notice regarding their student’s meal eligibility do not need to submit an application, their student is already registered for the drawing. We will draw names from each campus on Monday, Sept. 30 and contact the household so we can get the correct bike (size/boy-or-girl) and will deliver the bikes/AirPods to campuses on Friday, Oct. 4 to surprise the students!
