PRESIDENT’S MESSAGE - last of the school year!

Dear Brightwood Families,

Wow! What a year this has been at Brightwood Elementary School! The partnerships between staff, families, students, and our community have been nothing short of amazing. Thank you to everyone that supported the Brightwood PTA, students, and staff during the year! Our success was due to your volunteer hours, financial support, and love for all things Brightwood Bengals.

Teacher Appreciation Week for our MARVEL-ous teachers has wrapped up. Thank you so much to everyone who participated in the daily teacher gift giving. The PTA provided a breakfast bar for our teachers last Thursday. And,we will also be hosting an End Of the Year Teacher Luncheon this coming Wednesday. Thank you to those who donated money and food items for the luncheon. You have all been so generous. We know they’re feeling the love that they very much deserve. HUGE thank you to Brenda S and Gracie T for planning and leading us through the Breakfast Bar and Teacher Luncheon. They have done an amazing job as hospitality chairs and we appreciate all of your hard work.

Usually Teacher Appreciation Week is our last big event of the year, but we have one more big event for our student body! Our Amazing PBIS Team has planned an End of Year Extravaganza to celebrate those students who earned Class Dojo points for their good work. They have lots of fun things planned. The PTA is providing hot dogs and Otter pops for the students who attend! We’re very excited about this event and can’t wait to have a day of fun for our scholars! This is a student-only event and will take place during school hours. If you’re an approved volunteer and would like to help out, please click on the link https://www.signupgenius.com/go/60b0544afac29a6fb6-star and sign up.

Now that the SBAC testing is over, the PTA is also going to be celebrating Earth Week for the lower grade students this week. We have some in-class zoom sessions with the Pasadena Audubon Society and Theodore Payne Foundation. This is our first time working with these organizations and we are excited for the students! Next Monday, the upper grades will be partaking in Science Day. The teachers are bringing back their annual Egg Drop Competition. Can’t wait to find out who will succeed!

Keep an eye out for the Talent Show link. Our VP Adrian L worked tirelessly, from the auditions, rehearsals, the actual talent show and putting it all together for your viewing from home. He deserves big kudos for all this hard work to make our talent show a success. It is important to realize all the work the PTA does behind the scenes to bring all these activities to our school.

Also, if you haven’t done so already….it is not too late to order your yearbook. Go to www.treering.com/validate with the passcode 1015657613561236.

To my PTA board and chairs, thank you for your time, talent and commitment to our school. It has been an honor to have worked with all of you, especially my executive board members. All your hard work is appreciated. I am looking forward to working with most of you again. 2022-2023 is going to be another sensational year at Brightwood.

I hope you all have a wonderful and memorable summer! See you all next year!

Brightwood Yearbook 2021-2022 is HERE!!! Reminder for next school year 2022-2023

We’re very excited to announce that we are trying to bring back the Brightwood Yearbook this year. It’s been awhile since we’ve had a school-wide yearbook and we can't do this project without your help. We are asking for help with submitting photos that we can use for the yearbook. If we have an event, such as Spirit Day, we ask that you email us a photo if you'd like to be featured in the yearbook. You can easily submit the photo* by emailing us at:

Please label each email accordingly. ie. Subject: Crazy Hair Day. When submitting photos please keep it to a minimum. We do not need several photos of the same child in different poses. Pick your best and send it our way! *note: all photos submitted are not guaranteed to make the yearbook
We need YOU! Join the Brightwood Team!
We are looking for community members who are interested in joining the Brightwood team. We are in great need of classified noon duty staff. Filling these positions would assist us in keeping students safe during unstructured time. Like many industries, we are facing a labor shortage in some positions and would appreciate you spreading the word to those who may be interested. Details of available positions and the online application can be found at www.EdJoin.org.
Don’t Forget! New Bell Schedule
Effective NOW
To address overcrowding and long lines during lunch on short Wednesdays and minimum days the school day will end 30 minutes earlier with a grab and go lunch students eat at home. Please see attached updated bell schedule.

Executive Board led by new president, Duly Wong and the rest of our 2021-2022 Board members.
