There is a well-known adage that says, ‘those who do not know their history are doomed to relive it.’ As I look at what is going on in the world today, I fear for our future. The emphasis seems to be on self-promotion in the moment rather than the care and service of others. The celebration of Memorial Day gives us pause to reflect on all the blessings that are ours thanks to the sacrifices of those who have gone before us. We remember especially those who gave their lives that we might live in freedom.

Senior Luncheon


The next Senior Luncheon will be Monday, June 10. We will begin with lunch at noon. The cost of the luncheon is $7.00. Please call in your reservations to Rita Bowen at 323-0140 by Wednesday, June 5. We look forward to a great meal, good fellowship, and BINGO for those who wish to stay. Bring a friend and enjoy a great afternoon.

The St. Mary Recycle Mission Group is going to be picking up Religious item donations that can be used by other Churches, Convents or Religious Organizations. Please drop off any items that you may not be able to use/display any longer that you would like to have go to a new home in the St. Mary Conference Room no later than Friday ~ June 21.

Junior High

Dr. Paul Tsivitse, MD (pterryohio@gmail.com) spoke to our 6th, 7th and 8th graders about lung health and dangers of vaping. He is a pulmonologist and supporter of Catholic education.

Memorial Day Parade Details - Monday, May 27

Details

  • Bring a bag of candy to throw to the crowds as we walk!
  • Meeting at 9:00 am on Ely Square and line up in our spot by 9:30 am - Division 4 Information & Staging
  • Line up in the parking lot behind Lorain County Common Pleas Court off of 2nd St. Parade begins at 10:00 am.
  • Look for Kelly Mencke, our organizer for this event. Questions? Call Kelly at 440-336-4742
  • Kids and parents may walk or bike in the parade.

We are going for:

  • Best Decorated Bicycles - Blue and Gold for SMS or Red, White and Blue
  • Best Team Spirit - Wear Cougar shirts or Red, White and Blue

Route:

  • Parade begins on Court Street to Broad Street and parade ends at Ridge Lawn Cemetery at the intersection of Harrison and Glenwood - Make plans for transportation at the end of the parade route back to your car or pick up location
