COMMUNITY SURVEY LAUNCHED

MASTER PLAN AND MOBILITY ACTION PLAN

The City, with the participation of the community, has embarked on the exciting process of rewriting its Master Plan, a document that guides policy to help create a vision of what the future will look like in relation to land use development and preservation.

As the City undertakes the updating of the Master Planning process, a Mobility Action Plan is also developing. With continued demand for increased transportation options and pressures on the transportation network, the Mobility Action Plan will represent the City’s first-ever comprehensive plan towards building a non-motorized network.

The processes for both the Master Plan and Mobility Action Plan are being aligned to leverage community awareness and engagement. The City will co-host the initial engagement activities occurring in September and October 2022.

Take the Survey!

As an initial step to shape the conversation, a community survey launched on September 11th and will run through October 9th. The survey seeks YOUR IDEAS relating to what is important and occurring in Traverse City and gains an understanding on how YOU would like to engage in the process moving forward.

STICKER

DESIGN CONTEST

Following in the footsteps of the ‘I Voted’ and ‘Future Voter’ Sticker Design Contests, the City is excited to launch another creative challenge by seeking designs for its ‘First Time Voter’ stickers.

Artists are invited to submit designs for the ‘First Time Voter’ sticker design contest beginning September 12, 2022 through September 28, 2022. Once the application process closes, a panel of judges will review and select six finalists. A public vote to select the winners of the six finalists will run October 2 - 9, 2022. The three designs with the top number of votes will win $100 each and be announced at the October 10, 2022, City Commission Meeting.

RIVERFRONT CONCEPTUAL DESIGNS AND SURVEY

In 2022, the Lower Boardman River Unified Plan was adopted and provides a framework for significant environmental and placemaking improvements.

Improving the interface with the river in the heart of Downtown was a top priority identified in the Unified Plan.

After a series of public engagement, conceptual designs for the Boardman/Ottaway Riverfront, behind the 100 and 200 blocks of Front Street (from Union Street down to Park Street), have been developed.

The DDA has published the conceptual designs and is seeking feedback through an online survey.
