Who's in the Pew?
By Jean Steele
Stephanie Ching was born in Honolulu and grew up in Hawaii Kai. She attended Kahala Elementary School where her mother taught. Stephanie also attended St. Andrew’s Priory, Kaiser High School and UH-Manoa. Stephanie then won a scholarship and earned a masters in Human Resources from Hawaii Pacific University. She hoped that her choice would put her in a position to help people.
Currently working for a local organization, Stephanie is an HR Manager, concerning herself with everything from compensation and benefits to recruiting. She especially enjoys helping others through employee relations.
Her daughters are Kirin 13, and Kaya 10. Kirin attends seventh grade at Iolani School. She is a cheerleader, a tennis player, and dances hula. Her hula halau has recently returned from performing in Madrid and Barcelona, Spain. Kaya is in fourth grade at Wilson Elementary School. She likes hip hop dance, horseback riding, and drawing & reading.
Besides accompanying Kirin and family to Spain, Stephanie has traveled abroad to China, Japan and Taiwan. For two summers she taught English in China and was exposed to a wide variety of unfamiliar food including worms, turtles and camels!
Stephanie was elected to the Vestry at the Annual meeting in February 2024, and has subsequently been appointed our new Treasurer!
