A Pentecost Message

From Rev. Jenn

Each year in the church calendar we celebrate the Day of Pentecost. It is traditional on this day for church members to wear red, and the liturgical colors for this day are also red because this is the color that represents the Holy Spirit. It is on this day that we celebrate the coming of the Holy Spirit onto the disciples as described in the second chapter of Acts of the Apostles.

Pentecost was originally a feast celebrated by the Jewish people, and the disciples were gathered together in one place, presumably to celebrate the feast, when the Holy Spirit came upon them. Episcopal churches have different practices to celebrate Pentecost: readings are read in multiple languages, special music is offered, sometimes with liturgical dance. We will celebrate Pentecost this Sunday, May 19, with special music and readings. The Rev. Dr. Bob Steele will preach to us.

Please come, wear red, and be ready to celebrate the gift of the Holy Spirit!

Stephen Noerper

to be Received this Weekend!

Stephen Noerper will be received into the Episcopal Church at St. Andrew's Cathedral this Saturday, May 18th, at 5pm in a service open to all.

Stephen is grateful for the warm welcome and love shared by the Holy Nativity family. The community has “made all the difference with its aloha spirit, unity and compassion shared with

my family and myself.”

Stephen is pursuing ministry studies and is grateful to Reverends Libby, Jenn, and Bob, the discernment committee, Vestry, and the entire congregation.

Ho'omaika'i Stephen!

Coffee Hour in Need of Support!

We all love Coffee Hour; that delightful time we spend on Sunday, after service before we return to our secular lives.

The sense of community and belonging is important, and fellowship time is precious.

That being said, the logistics of Coffee Hour are the responsibility of all who enjoy it, and not just a hardworking few.

Please consider helping with the Coffee Hour effort by bringing snacks and/or potluck to share.

Any and all contributions are welcome!

You don't need to "sign up", if that level of commitment is too much, just please help however is possible for you.

The effort is appreciated, and this way we can all enjoy a bountiful Coffee Hour, together.
