Owls well that ends well!
Seems St. Paul's cathedral, downtown, had quite a pigeon problem in their chapel.
They called a company that quoted them (quite high) to take care of the problem. Someone suggested they try owls. So, they purchased plastic owls with heads that move when the wind blows (Home Depot) filled them with sand and placed them beneath the windows where the pigeons
enter and exit.
So far, it seems to be working!

Robert Hind, son of a pioneer sugar planter who came to the islands from England in the 1860’s, had more than two thousand head of cattle on his Pu'uwa'awa'a ranch on the Big Island.
In 1918 he started Kapahulu Dairy. And in 1924, Hind purchased 2,090-acres between Kaimuki and Koko Head and established the Hind-Clarke Dairy with John K Clarke.
The Hind-Clarke Dairy sold wholesale and retail milk, specializing in “certified” milk and pursued a plan for increased efficiency. Modern machinery, such as bottling machines, were used in the dairy.
The Dairy was a favored stop along the road, as noted in a 1930 visitor’s guide. “And Hind-Clarke Dairy had this drive-in [pictured above] where they had their own ice cream parlor.”
In 1946, the ‘Āina Haina dairy operation was sold to Creameries of America, and soon after that began the development of the remainder of Hind’s land for residential use.
Soon after, a generous land donation from the children of Senator & Mrs. Robert Hind became the site of the present-day church and school.
Sunday, June 30, our Holy Nativity coffee hour will feature an ice cream social to commemorate our parish’s 75th Anniversary.
Please consider making a gift to ensure our future.
Just note “75th” on your check OR ask how to transfer securities to Holy Nativity.
