Welcome the Season of Creation!
The Season of Creation is celebrated from September 1 - October 4 to help us remember our connection to the earth and all that God has made. Each week we will have special readings, prayers, and preaching honoring God's creation.
Why is it important to mark the
Season of Creation?
• Because of our Gospel calls us to grow in faith as we affirm that God in Christ loves, redeems, and sustains the whole of Creation, not only
human beings.
• Because of the urgency of the climate and ecological crisis and the need for a bold, prophetic response that draws on our faith in a life-giving and loving God.

Trinity by the Sea
(Service Day on Maui)
On August 10, a group of five youth (Carter Holden, Olesya Noerper, Taireva Thompson, Isaiah Zitz, and Chase Holden) from Holy Nativity Church ventured to Maui to explore and serve.
We took an early morning flight to Kahului and started our explorations at Kēʻalia Wildlife Refuge Boardwalk where we practiced a mindfulness walk led by our own Dr. Bill Heran, HNC Intern.
After a good hearty breakfast, we drove up Haleakalā to get a different perspective of the island.
We returned to Trinity By The Sea Episcopal Church in Kihei where Fr. John A. Hauʻoli Tomoso welcomed and oriented us with an oli, and shared the story of the church grounds. The Jr. Warden, Scott Zipf, led us in a service project caring for the grounds near their columbarium.
We built up a good appetite which we satisfied with burgers at an old style diner, Peggy Leeʻs, and then headed back to the airport for our return flight
to Oʻahu.
Next up for our youth, plans for service on the island of Oʻahu. Stay tuned for opportunities to join them in local volunteer efforts.

Beautiful Vespers Service
for Maui
August 11th (6pm)
Dr. Cat and Juliet Cuadra sang, “The Mother and the Child” at the Vespers Service at The Cathedral of St. Andrew. They represented HNC well.
Amie Lawyer also shared the song "Ka Manaʻoʻiʻo" during the service, another beautiful offering
from HNC.

2024 Standing Committee Meets in Maui
Members of the Standing Committee of the Episcopal Diocese of Hawai'i met on August 16-17 on Maui. The four lay and four clergy members included:
Mr. Chuck Spence (Trinity-by-the Sea, Maui), the Rev. Hau'oli Tomoso, (also from Trinity), the Rev. Keleawe Hee (Good Samaritan, Oahu), and Rev. Libby (serving as SC President this year); Mr. Bill Bonnet (St. John's Maui), Ms. Fran Kramer (St. Elizabeth's, Oahu), Mr. Doug Adams (Holy Apostles, Hilo) and the Rev. Andrew McMullen (St. Michael and All Angel's, Kaua'i).
In addition to attending a listening session with members of all Episcopal Maui congregations, the SC was able to tour the site of the former Holy Innocents Church and meet with the members of Holy Innocents, who currently worship at a Methodist Church in Lahaina.
Rev. Libby and Fran Kramer will be rotating off Standing Committee at Diocesan Convention, when our delegates will elect the next clergy and lay representatives to replace them.
