Message from the Dean

We are always looking for ways to offer new and innovative programs in engineering education. We now have a flexible program specifically designed to help those who already have a bachelor’s degree in engineering earn a professional master's degree, formally called a Master’s of engineering (M.E.). This degree can be applied to all of our existing engineering degree programs and is all course-based, with no research component unless desired. In general, the M.E. comprises 10 courses or 30 credit hours, with five courses in the engineering program of major and five courses in other disciplines of engineering or courses outside of engineering with the approval of an adviser.

Many of the courses are available online with more being added going forward. An M.E. degree is beneficial to furthering working engineers’ skills and job progression, it can count as one year toward professional licensure, and engineers who hold master’s degrees can command higher salaries. I hope that alumni and recent graduates will consider pursuing an M.E. For more information, visit Professional Master Programs.
