Best of Oceanside Magazine Stay and Play Local Feature - Arrowood Golf Course
Designed by prominent local architect Ted Robinson Jr, the Arrowood golf course is a par-71, 6,721-yard layout embedded in the Arrowood community. Bordered by undeveloped, riparian habitat, the course feels of natural seclusion. While the open spaces instill relaxation, four sets of tees ensure a golf test to suit any skill level. The greens are a blend of Poa-annua and Bermuda grass, firm and fast. At one instance, the player is invited to swing away, while the next shot may bring elevation changes, strategic bunkering or a stern breeze. The ocean breeze will wake you up later in the morning and on into the afternoon. It typically peaks when you get to the more difficult part of the round, the final four holes, also known as The Quandary.

Oceanside Chamber Prepares for 2023 Oceanside Leadership Academy | |

The Oceanside Chamber is preparing to host its first annual Oceanside Leadership Academy. The Oceanside Leadership Academy was formed to equip participants to serve in a variety of leadership roles such as non-profit boards, City commissions, elected leadership roles, and within leadership succession roles in their own companies. The Chamber was honored to have the opportunity to share details on the upcoming Academy on KOCT's Oceanside Spectrum.
Spots for the Academy's spring session are full. However, the Oceanside Chamber will be host a fall session. Details will be released soon.

Oceanside Appoints New Police Chief
(Source - City of Oceanside) - The City of Oceanside announced the appointment of Kedrick Sadler as Oceanside’s next Police Chief. The appointment is effective April 1, 2023, following current Police Chief Fred Armijo’s retirement.
Chief Kedrick Sadler possesses over 22 years of diverse policing experience spent entirely in Oceanside. During his career he has held the positions of Patrol Officer, Canine Handler, Property Crimes Detective, Homicide Detective, Patrol Sergeant, Support Operations Division Lieutenant, and Captain overseeing the Police Department’s Investigations Division. Chief Sadler rose through the ranks and has an impeccable law enforcement career marked by strong leadership skills and commitment to community engagement.

Measure X Projects Update - Increased Road Repairs and More
(Source - City of Oceanside) - Avoiding potholes is on everyone's mind with the increased rain opening them up at an unprecedented rate this winter. Public Works crews are out daily filling them (please report potholes via the City app!).
On dry days, the City's Engineering Division is overseeing slurry seals and overlays (including new high-speed fiber optic) in areas throughout the City, including the construction of new ADA sidewalk ramps. See current work areas below. Plans are being made to repair higher-use arterial roads in the next round.

Job Killer AB 68 Would Exacerbate Housing Crisis, Eliminate Construction Jobs
(Source: CalChamber) - A bill that quashes housing was tagged yesterday as a job killer by the California Chamber of Commerce. AB 68 (Ward; D-San Diego) worsens California’s existing housing crisis by preventing local governments from permitting new housing units in most of their jurisdictions.
“AB 68 would mandate exclusionary land use policies, which will further restrict housing supply, raise costs and prices of homes, further inequality, undermine employers’ ability to recruit for jobs, and disproportionately hurt rural California,” said CalChamber Vice President of Advocacy Adam Regele. “AB 68 is not the solution to California’s housing crisis – it will make things worse.”

For 10 years, SDNEDC has been convening over 400 leaders from around San Diego's North County to learn how national and international economic trends will impact the region. This year's new keynote speaker is Charlie Dougherty, Vice President and Economist with Wells Fargo’s Corporate and Investment Bank. Mr. Dougherty will focus on national and state trends. Josh Williams will cover this year’s North County Indicators Report, showing where North County is doing well and areas where we have opportunities to lead.

This special will be offered all day, 10 AM - 6PM! Included in every first visit will be a private exam and consultation, spinal adjustment and hydrotherapy massage, a touchless experience where gallons of pulsating water work out tension in the neck and back.
