That's a Wrap!

The Lexington Spring Premiere wrapped up today at the Virginia Horse Center and awarded the week's champions special awards.

Thank you to all who showed with us and supported the show: The sponsors, vendors and our generous donors whose contributions insured complimentary hospitality for all!

We look forward to seeing you all next week for the Lexington Spring Encore!

Sarahlisa Trophy Best Child Pony Type

Afonwen Rihanna Steel Your Heart [Steel Your Heart] won the Sarahlisa Trophy Best Child Pony Type.

The trophy was donated by longtime Virginia Horse Center supporter, Leslie Brown and her son Andrew. Leslie named the award after their pony Sarahlisa and said, “She was the ultimate for a beginner’s pony and could have been a model for Thelwell. She was an Indian pony from Oklahoma, and I bought her when she and Andrew were just four years old.”

Steel Your Heart’s barn name is ‘Uh Oh’. According to trainer Fiona Turner of Level Green Riding School in Powhatan, Virginia, the dam didn’t know she was in foal. “Uh Oh has taught many kids in Virginia and has been a children’s pony for several years. She’s an older pony, has done local shows and is now ‘cleaning up’ in the rated circuit because of her years of experience.”

Robert Caputo is ten years old and has been leasing Uh Oh for two years. “Robert started riding with us as a complete beginner and has done cross rails to the 2’ divisions with her. He hacks her daily and is a keen rider. He has an amazingly tight leg and has a natural aptitude for riding,” said Turner.

“Our goal is for him to do the Childrens Pony Medal Finals in July in Warrenton and then Zones in October,” she added.
