Our New Year's Resolution: Become Even Friendlier

Happy new year to Charleston’s friendliest reading community! With the turn of the calendar, we’ve been making big plans for the year ahead. Our 2024 new year’s resolution includes…

  • Offering new and enhanced membership levels
  • Hosting new types of events for book lovers
  • Even more pop-up book sales
  • Increased opportunities for member input
  • Additional programming support across all 18 branches of Charleston County Library
  • Making new friends throughout Charleston County

Rare Finds Available at our Next Pop-up Sale

Pop-up alert! We’re hosting a pop-up sale featuring the finest texts and treasures in our sorting room.

Join us on Thursday, January 18 in the main branch auditorium from 1:00 – 6:00 p.m. We’ll be rolling out the red carpet for a collection of rare books, uncommon items, collector’s sets, and much more!

These are the types of books you won’t find anywhere else, priced at $20 and up (which is still a steal, based on what you’d pay online!). So come out and see what rarities await!

Thank You to our Amazing Board Members!

We couldn’t do what we do without the dedicated efforts of our stellar board of directors. These are the FRIENDS doing work behind the scenes to make our book sales, sorting room, and everything else we do run smoothly.

With that in mind, we want to say thank you to those board members whose terms wrapped up in December. We so appreciate all you’ve done for the FRIENDS!

  • Amanda Bunting Comen
  • Savannah Frierson
  • Susan Hoffius
  • Brandon Reid

And of course, a warm welcome to our two newest board members: Erika LeGendre and Nick Plasmati! We’re excited to have you on board.

Together, We're Making a Difference

The final numbers are in, and it was a banner year for Charleston County Public Library programming. Your generosity had a massive impact, supporting…

  • Summer Reading: 863 total programs, 15,844 new registrations, 32% program growth.
  • Story Time Early Literacy Programs: 65% increase in attendance.
  • Free and Fresh Fridges: 16000 pounds of fresh produce distributed.
  • Summer Feeding: 21,533 meals served.
  • Kids Cafe: 11,064 meals served.

Which brings us to the final piece of our new year’s resolution: To make an even bigger impact on lowcountry literacy and learning in 2024. With your help, we can do it!
