With approximately 3,000 attendees, the vibrant gathering featured a myriad of activities, including arts and crafts, face painting, scavenger hunts, and a lively piñata celebration. The event showcased beautiful altars dedicated to loved ones, a unique car show featuring alters in car trunks, and a lively array of entertainment, from live dancers to Mariachi performances. Empowering Kids After School

STEM After-School

Our La Colonia kids dove into the realm of robotics during STEM2Leaf Robotics classes. Enthusiastically engaged, members personalized their robotic airplanes, learning the intricacies of programming for takeoff and landing. They gained valuable insights into fundamental concepts like gear ratios, motors, and resilient engineering.

Beyond sparking a passion for science and technology, this program equips our youth with practical skills that extend far into their future.

Building Bonds with Deputies at La Colonia Park Day

On October 10th, the La Colonia community enjoyed a special park day with members of the Sheriff's Department. Our members and Deputy Sheriff's came together for a spirited game of baseball, creating moments of joy and camaraderie.

This unique occasion provided our kids with an opportunity to forge connections with law enforcement, fostering relationships beyond the usual encounters. A heartfelt thank you goes to the North Coastal Sheriff's Station deputies for taking the time out of their busy schedules to join us and invest in the well-being and happiness of our youth!

Ukulele & Percussion Lessons

Exploring the Wonders of Science in the Kitchen

From revealing the formation of gluten in dough to understanding the effects of salt on potatoes and its relation to snack choices and its effect on our bodies, members experimented through hands-on learning.

The children turned into food critics, sampling persimmons and the unique pink pearl apple with its beautiful rosy pink interior. The excitement of discovering new fruits filled the kitchen, as almost everyone eagerly tried these delightful additions. Our club kitchen became a hub of exploration and learning as we combined science and culinary adventures.

Rachel Ray Foundation Empowers Family Bonding through Cooking Classes

Thanks to a generous grant from the Rachel Ray Foundation, we were able to host two engaging parent and child cooking classes at our Solana Beach Center For a Healthy Lifestyle. The grant-funded sessions brought together 10 children and their parents, where families bonded over creating dishes like homemade lasagna and pumpkin gingersnap tarts, as well as from-scratch pork dumplings with veggie fried rice.

Beyond the joy of cooking, these classes showcased children's culinary skills and left parents impressed. This initiative, made possible by the Rachel Ray Foundation, became a celebration of family ties and lasting memories through the shared experience of cooking.

Multilingual Family Night at Skyline Sparks Connections

On October 5th, the Solana Beach School District hosted a vibrant Multilingual Family Night at Skyline. Families gathered to foster connections and strengthen relationships. The event provided a platform for families to explore information about the school district's programs, including ASP initiatives. Amidst socializing and shared enjoyment, we welcomed two new students, highlighting the positive impact of this engaging and informative evening
