Thanks for blogging about copyright!

Dear Copyright Advocates,

Thanks to many of you who took the time to speak up about copyright on your blogs, Twitter, Facebook, and other news feeds last Friday, November 19th.

This effort was initiated by Jane Smith in response to the outcry from the creative community over the unauthorized use of Monica Gaudino's story by "Cooks Source" magazine. (If you missed this, see links to the story below.)

I have seen great postings by writers, musicians, and photographers alike. Some blogs aim to inform clients about why copyright is important to an artist's business. Other blogs recap this most recent infringement story and offer unique perspectives on what happened and why. In the end, I'm certain your efforts have not gone unnoticed as I see more and more conversations online about the merits of copyright.

You all know that the more we talk about it, and the more we educate people, the more others will begin to understand that, yes, all creative works are owned by someone.

I'm working on compiling all the blogs related to Friday's efforts. So, if you haven't sent me your link, please do! A number of folks have also posted their links on Jane's blog at her request: http://howpublishingreallyworks.com/?p=3500

Thanks again and have a Happy Thanksgiving! Gobble. Gobble.

Best,

Lucinda Dugger

Director of Outreach
