"Generosity is the best way of becoming

more, more, and more joyful"

Archbishop Desmond Tutu, The Book of Joy

A Special

Thank You to the Parish and Leadership Team of

 St. Barnabas, Chester

On behalf of the Parish of St. Barnabas, Chester, the Leadership Team recently made a substantial contribution to FaithWorks as part of a bequest they received in 2022. Such unexpected bequests and legacy giving are especially appreciated as the requests for assistance from FaithWorks and the need for help has increased so substantially, 35%, over the last couple of years. This generosity not only helps FaithWorks to stabilize funding for our existing ministry partners, it can also provide the means to offer funding to new ministries seeking assistance from FaithWorks.

Donation to Faithworks from

St. Barnabas

Last year St. Barnabas was gifted with a generous bequest from a long-time parishioner. We spent a lot of time, discussion and prayer on what we should direct the money towards. The Leadership Team reviewed the matter, we took it to Advisory Board, and we held a meeting with the parish to get their input. We also said a prayer every Sunday asking for direction from God as to how we should distribute the wonderful gift that we had received.

After many months of prayerful consideration and discussion, a motion was passed at Vestry that we would utilize the funds for some much needed work on our building and to extend our ministry plans, but that we would also follow the guidance of the bible and make sure that some of it was given to other worthwhile projects. Some of the money went to a project that will benefit our neighbourhood and some to Faithworks.

We as a parish have benefited from grants from Faithworks in the past and we wanted to pay it back so that others would be able to receive the same help that we did. As well we wanted areas outside of our neighbourhood to benefit from our gift. The work that Faithworks does is definitely worthwhile and we rejoice that we can play a part in helping it to happen.

A $100,000 Matching Challenge Grant for 2023

A generous donor has offered a $100,000 matching challenge grant for all new and increased donations. That means for every dollar raised over last year’s amount, by an individual or parish, FaithWorks receives an extra dollar. We encourage you to make a special effort this year –

doing a little more can make twice the difference.
