Our People
Colleen McLeay has joined our team as our new Development Director. She comes from CUES, a non-profit that raises funds for the CUES School System that serves low income students and families in inner-city Omaha. At CUES, she she worked in many capacities including development, partnerships, events and marketing. Prior to joining the non-profit industry, Colleen worked for large scale agencies in advertising and marketing in Chicago and Denver. Colleen was born and raised in Chicago but has lived here with her husband Tom and their three children for 18 years. She is excited to bring her talents to The Society of St. Vincent de Paul. "The work being done by the District Office and the Vincentians is incredible and humble. I am grateful to be here and eager to see what we can do moving forward to help our neighbors in need, especially during these unprecedented times."
Our Work
Between our Advent Appeal, Giving Tuesday, Stuff the Bus, extra volunteer requests, and daily activities, we have really asked a great deal of you lately, but you have risen above and beyond as usual! Our volunteers and donors, along with our Vincentians are the heart of our organization and we can't do what we do without you!
CONFERENCES AND HELP LINE
"The St. Bernadette's school children had a food drive for our SVdP Pantry at Church. As you probably know, we have 30 parishioners volunteering at the Downtown Pantry. We also donate our extra food items to the Downtown Pantry on a regular basis. I thought you would get a kick out of these pictures they created with the food before we put it in the pantry! Some very creative kids!"

FOOD PANTRY
Stuff the Bus
We collected 56 Gaylords (large cardboard containers) or approximately 33,600 lbs of food. We are ready for the holidays!
We also collected 39 Gaylords of toys. There were so many toys we're partnering with Catholic Charities and Toys for Tots to make sure we're able to get all of the toys to deserving kids in time for Christmas.

Thank you, Channel 6, Methodist Hospitals, Two Men and a Truck and KGOR, and thank you Generous Omaha, for this heartwarming, overwhelming display of generosity!
Thank you to Justin Vossen and Lutz Financial Group for donating to the our Food Pantry! The need this year is greater than ever. Thank you for your generosity!

Distance Does not Deter True Caring

"Sometimes protecting the donor is as important as the donation itself. Many people do things because they have a big heart and know they can make a difference in some small or large way. Recognition isn’t what they desire, but knowing they can trust others like St Vincent de Paul to follow through on their behalf.

We often team up with others to complete our mission to serve. As many know our stores sell, and the Society provides, some truly fantastic mattresses. This is a case where word of mouth presented a great solution.

I received a call from a very kind woman who was trying to help a great partner organization of ours, The Least of My Brethren. They were trying to get bed sets for a growing number of displaced and needy families around Omaha. She lives out of state and was concerned she would not be able to help, but someone suggested she call SVdP. Her call really hit home with us and her desire became ours.

The price we had and the offer to deliver must have been just right because she decided to double the order and provide for more families. We delivered all of the complete mattress sets to The Least of My Brethren’s warehouse for distribution. If it weren’t for this woman’s determination and caring, this would not have come together."

HOLY FAMILY COMMUNITY CENTER
Giving Tuesday 2020
Thank you so much to everyone who donated to the Holy Family Street Outreach program for Giving Tuesday this year. We raised just over $8,850. Out of 54 donors, 14 of them were first time donors to Holy Family.
These funds will help expand our delivery of sack lunches, toilet paper, and laundry detergent to several senior housing towers and others on the street in east Omaha.
Our virtual screening of the Borderlands episode of the PBS series Art 21 will be screened on our website
Thursday January 7th at 5:30pm.
There will be an online panel discussion following the hour long show with artists and curators from The Joslyn Art Museum and the Bemis Center for Contemporary Art. Learn about contemporary art and the artists making it as well as some of your neighbors.
Closet Door Donations
John recently did a clothing drive for his Eagle Scout Project.
"We can't thank you enough for your efforts to provide clothing for the poor and homeless here at Holy Family. Your work is generous and greatly appreciated. Truly impressive work by a fine young man. Your mother and father and members of your troop should be very proud of you, and you should be proud of yourself as well."
Bruce Noble, Director Holy Family Ministries
Marian High students made about 60 fleece blankets for the Closet Door.
Here, Closet Door volunteers Lisa Manley and Mary Ann and John Chaney accept them in the Social Hall.
Thank you all so much! They were very popular and appreciated!
There are many ways to support us if you can!
