Thank You Second Alarmers

Whitpain says thank you to Second Alarmers as part of the celebration of EMS Week.

EMS Week, May 21 to May 27, is a perfect time to honor the frontline heroes dedicated to providing emergency medicine that saves so many lives every day. Whitpain is fortunate to receive that care from the Second Alarmers Rescue Squad

We ask residents to join us in sending best wishes to all EMS personnel serving our community.

Police Recommend Using Inside Drop Box At Blue Bell Post Office

There has been a recent increase of reported mail theft from the Blue Bell Post Office outside drop box located at 651 South Township Line Road. This crime has been on the rise throughout the region.

The Whitpain Police Department recently made arrests regarding thefts of mail from the outside drop box. The Detective Division has notified the United States Postal Inspector and the investigation is ongoing.

The Police Department recommends customers utilize the drop box inside the lobby rather than the drive-up drop box.

The United States Post Office has been requested to enhance security features on the outside drop box.

Leaves must be placed in biodegradable paper bags and put out at the curb the evening before the scheduled collection. As a reminder, please don’t rake leaves to the curb and do not place leaf waste and branch trimmings in plastic bags or in trash can containers. They will not be collected.

If your pickup is missed, you must call the Township the day of collection at 610-277-2400. This program is not available to private communities.

The Township does not sell paper bags for leaf collection. Bags are available for purchase at many hardware stores, supermarkets and warehouse stores.

From The EAC: Household Battery Recycling Event On June 3

The EAC will host its second Battery Recycling event on June 3rd outside the Township Building from 9 a.m. to 11 a.m.

Why recycle instead of throw away batteries? Recycling batteries conserves resources and reduces pollution.

It is estimated that 180,000 tons of batteries are discarded annually in the U.S. Adding old batteries to landfills can leach toxic corrosive chemicals such as cadmium, mercury, lead and nickel into the soil and groundwater, which endangers the environment and human health.

Recycling batteries keeps harmful materials out of the waste stream. Recoverable materials like cobalt, lithium, graphite, nickel, aluminum and zinc can be recycled. Unlike paper and plastic, metals can be recycled indefinitely.
