As the end of 2017 approaches, we are thankful to live in a community where giving back is a cornerstone of our culture. This spirit of generosity makes Houston a special place and continues to bolster our efforts.

The Foundation began strategic planning this year and we are excited about our progress. In 2017, we also hosted our second annual Family Philanthropy Day and several new programs- a poverty simulation, regional community indicators focus groups, and a luncheon on disaster philanthropy.

The year has been marked by unprecedented global, national, and local challenges. We began 2017 excited to administer grants for historic Super Bowl LI. We close the year managing and guiding the grantmaking process for the extraordinary devastation caused by Hurricane Harvey. The support of donors and colleagues from near and far has been encouraging and a welcomed reminder of the kindness of strangers and friends.

In late February, the Foundation will publish a printed progress report and this e-Newsletter will return to your inbox. We look forward to working with you in 2018!

Wishing you a cheerful holiday season,

The GHCF Team

GHCF STAFF ARRIVALS & DEPARTURES
Since June, the Foundation staff has grown!  We are proud to welcome: LaMecia Butler, Kolby Gilbert, Courtney Grymonprez, DaMon Jackson, and Michelle Morrison! Read more about each of them here. Our Foundation Services team is delighted that Leah Wade joined them as Senior Associate. Leah was most recently a Senior Associate in the Donor Services Department.

Yolanda Vargas and Jordan Lauver moved on from the Foundation to pursue their passions. After five years in the Donors Services Department, Yolanda started a new career as an aesthetician. Jordan began as an English teacher at Cypress Falls High School.  While we were sad to see them move on, we wish them every success in their next chapter!
Our goal is to inform and interest donors, clients and friends of the Foundation.
