Sold Out 15th Annual Duffing For Dollars Charity Golf Tournament Raises Over $60,000 For MusiCares!
Dynamic Talent International Takes Home 1st Place!
This past week, Strawberry Farms Golf Club in Irvine, CA was the home of the 15th Annual Duffing For Dollars Charity Golf Tournament led by Kevin Lyman (Vans Warped Tour / KL Agency Group / USC Professor), along with committee members, John Greenberg (Happy 2B Alive), Maureen Valker (Insomniac) and Todd Dyer (Cast & Crew Live Entertainment) all gathering their friends and colleagues together to raise funds for Unite The United and MusiCares.
The day started with all participants picking up custom bag tags produced by Access Events Solutions. The player gift bag was packed with a complimentary pair of Vans, a soft cooler bag produced by Graphic Ink and sponsored by PSBM, an event hat manufactured by Pukka and a limited event shirt incorporating the 15th anniversary logo, produced by Killer Merch as well as a custom event golf towel sponsored by Slow Tide. Thanks to generous friends at Pure Noise Records, all players enjoyed a sleeve of Titleist Pro-V1 golf balls. One of the items given to participants that received the most attention was an impressive hardcover coffee table book reflecting the history of Punkrock & Paintbrushes.
The morning session culminated with a classic group photo shot by Rob Wallace and a hole-in-one during the morning putting contest was achieved by Pete Zepina of MIBE Music. As participants hit the links for the day, all enjoyed unlimited Double Doubles from the In N’ Out Cookout truck, this year sponsored by idobi Radio and strong and spicy Bloody Mary’s from Tito’s Handmade Vodka. The entire morning was kept fun, lively and informative thanks to Beebs from Beebs and her Moneymakers holding down the MC duties for the sold out crowd of over 160 attendees.
Golf at times during the day took a backseat to all the activities out on the course thanks to G2 Mobile Structures, Thriller Records, Monster Tour Water, Firestone / 805, Beatbox Beverages, Hand rolled cigars and a $25,000 hole-in-one prize thanks to Cast & Crew Live Entertainment, the golf ball air cannon and FUN-raiser games lead by Jennifer and her team at Pin-Up Golf. Additional information was made available from the Veterans Collective and Pass The Bass w/ Dylan who were raising awareness for veterans causes as well as the Brain Injury Association of America, respectively.
Some unfortunate weather with lightning paused the fun twice throughout the day but in no way damped people’s spirits as they headed into the clubhouse for the days post golf awards dinner. The buffet dinner, sponsored by Richard “Wolfie” Wolf was enjoyed during a very funny comedy set by longtime friend and Duffing For Dollars supporter, Joe Sib. Jessica Carmona reminded all attendees of the mission and goal of MusiCares right before a 7-day cruise from Sixthman was handed out as the Raffle Grand Prize. Trevor Swenson and his Dynamic Talent International team took First Place, while the “Number One Partiers” at Fearless Records took the highly coveted, hard fought, Last Place Trophy. For the 3rd year in a row, Frank Buckley of KTLA 5 Morning News with team captain Tony Arratia of KeyCode Media took home the Best Dressed Trophy. Additionally, it was nice to see the return of Dustin “Duddy B” Bushnell of Dirty Heads and his crew to the tournament which wound up raising over $60,000 for MusiCares. Getting in the spirit of the day, attendee Les Garland (Co-founder, MTV) donated a last minute private lunch with himself to the charity auction garnishing many laughs, cheers and most importantly generous bids to increase the days fundraising efforts.
