Tearful Tales of a Terrified Camper!
by
Erin Sweetsir-Mills
Csehy Camper 1995-1997
One hot Sunday morning, I walked into the living room and my Mother said "Surprise! You're going to music camp!" I loved music, but the thought of spending two weeks at a camp where I didn't know anyone was a little intimidating. I tried everything to convince my parents that this was just not a good idea. Despite begging, pleading, and even crying, we arrived at Csehy an hour later! (Yes, I said one hour!). After getting me settled into my room, my parents announced that they were leaving. I was terrified. I couldn't believe they were going to leave me there all by myself. But to my surprise, within an hour I found several girls who were as nervous as I was and we became fast friends by the end of the day.
I have many great memories from my times at Csehy. One of those great memories was the excitement of playing in the ensembles.
At my school, I was the only French horn player and the lower brass section was almost non-existent. Sitting in rehearsals at Csehy and playing with a full orchestra and band was amazing! The music was hard and I remember thinking that there was no way we would be ready for a concert with just 5 days of rehearsals! But our conductors worked us hard and three hours of private practice every day really helped! (Who knew that practice really does make perfect!) Our concert was a success!
My best memories are from our devotions and bonfires. Time spent in fellowship, singing praises, and hearing the messages planted seeds of God's truth in my heart. I will always look back on my time at Csehy fondly. I went to Csehy for three summers and made great music and wonderful friends. And fyi, each year when it came time to say good-bye to my Csehy friends...I cried!

Great News!
An exciting change for 2013 is the camp fee. Because God provided so wonderfully in 2012, we have lowered the fee for 2013 from $700 per week to only $625 per week! I know that you will want to take advantage of this 11% reduction by signing up for an extra week or two.
Again this year, we are offering a very generous referral discount. For each new camper you refer, you will get a discount of $312.50. That is 50% of the one week fee, so if you refer two new campers, you get a week of camp at no cost!
If you have any questions after looking at our web site, www.csehy.org, please do not hesitate to contact me via email (info@csehy.org) or by phone (610) 623-1326. I look forward to hearing from you soon and processing a record number of registrations.

If you are a returning camper, I want to make the process as fast and painless as possible, so click here, Randy@csehy.org, to send me an email telling me that you plan to return this summer. In the email, just let me know which weeks you plan to attend, and I will process your registration and send you the welcome packet.

Referral Discount!
Don't forget that you can come to camp free in 2013 by simply referring enough new campers who attend. The only criterion is that the referred campers cannot be your siblings.
Each successful referral brings you a discount of $312.50. This is in addition to any other discounts for which you qualify.
To help you recruit your friends, we have posters, brochures, and fliers for you to distribute. We can also do a Csehy presentation in your church, Christian school, homeschool group, or community band or orchestra. If you need any materials to help promote Csehy to your friends, or if you wish to arrange a Csehy presentation, send and email to info@csehy.org |

Paying for Csehy:
Some Great Ideas
The cost of summer camp may seem daunting, but there are many ways to make it affordable. For the next several weeks, we will use this space to give you ideas on how to raise money for Csehy 2013.
Scale-a-thon: 12 major scales + 12 minor scales. If 20 sponsors promised you 50 cents per scale ($12 per person), you could raise $240. You already know the scales - then set a new goal. A higher metronome marking, more octaves, contrary motion - move onto your modal scales, pentatonic, blues (hey, that sounds like theory - yep: you got it, theory in practice, and this makes it fun).
Hymn-a-thon: Learn a new hymn a week for 10 weeks. If 20 sponsors gave $1 per hymn, you could raise $200. Perhaps your sponsors could pick the hymns. Why not finish the 10 weeks with a special hymn sing for your sponsors. For even more fun, do this in collaboration with other Csehy friends so you can host the hymn sing together at the end of the 10 weeks.
