MR. DRAHEIM:

Dear MHS Families!

Greetings from Marinette High School! We made it  to the end of the third term! Hopefully all our students were able to get all work in and they received the grades they wanted.  There’s just one more term to finish and the 2023-24 school year is coming to an end.

I have a few reminders below that we have discussed with students the first weeks of school.

Third term has ended and now with the fourth term beginning on April 1st, some students may have some new classes.  It’s very important to make sure that all students are staying current with their school work and getting assignments in on time.  Please check your student’s Canvas or Skyward for current grades as we get closer to the half-way point of the second semester.  Next, I wanted to remind all parents/guardians to please help us by monitoring your student’s attendance and making sure they come to school every day, unless they are sick.  Checking a couple times a week is a great way to stay current with them in Canvas and/or Skyward.  If you need any help with this or log-in information, please call our High School Office for support.

We are continuing to recognize students with positive attendance every month this year and we’re hoping January will be a great way to start with perfect attendance. Those students who have perfect attendance will be recognized with food and prizes.  The only excused absences we will be recognizing for this will be for a school event.  For the month of October we had 42 students with perfect attendance and they received pizza for lunch.  In November we had 93 students and all of them enjoyed donuts during their lunch.  This month in December we ended with 103 students who qualified!  All of those students enjoyed a Christmas movie, Elf, in the auditorium.  They have done a great job getting here and we are very proud of them. In February, we had 91 students who qualified for perfect attendance and all those students will earn a donut at lunch on Thursday, February 29th. For the month of March, we had 135 students qualify and they received chocolate Cadbury Eggs during the lunches.

Finally, if you have a student who drives to school, please remind them they need to register for a parking permit every year and that they should lock their vehicle when it’s here.  When they fill out the form and get signatures, they will be issued a new parking pass.  Also remind your student that erratic or irresponsible driving in the parking lot will not be tolerated.  We don’t want accidents and/or people getting injured.  The rest of the school year will go by very quickly and before we know it, graduation will be upon us and the end of the school year!

Go Marines!

Sincerely,

Matt Draheim
