Pirkei Avot, one of the sixty-three Tractates of the Mishnah, contains Rabbinic Judaism's prescriptions for how to lead a life of virtue and honor. In the spring of 2018, new commentaries by Rabbi Tamar Elad-Appelbaum and Rabbi Gordon Tucker are to appear in print. In this seven week course, we will have the opportunity to study and discuss in depth essential parts of these new commentaries, even before the actual publication date.
A weekend celebration for this publication is being planned for the Spring.

Volunteers needed to help deliver Hanukkah food/gift packages to homebound, poor and isolated elderly in the Bronx.
This social action family event is in lieu of regular Shorashim learning for the 6th grade.
We will meet in Coop City.
We will return to TIC for our regular 11:30 am Shorashim dismissal.

Shorashim is a CELL PHONE FREE environment. We will ask your children to turn their phones off from 4:00-6:00 on Wednesday and Thursday and from 9:00-11:30 on Sundays. If you need to contact your child during Shorashim hours, please call the office. We are striving to meet our educational goals and our social/emotional goals every moment that the children are in Shorashim and the cell phone gets in the way of that. Thank you for your understanding and your support.
Reminder to parents that optional parent-educator conferences will be happening on the following dates in 2018:

Available times will be between

Thanks to a generous grant from Time for Good, a UJA-Federation initiative, J-Teen will be leading seven Disaster Area Relief Service Trips (DARST) to Houston and Florida this year!
